Meghan Hildebrand
Grown in the Yukon,I relocated to Nelson, BC in 1997 to study at the Kootenay School of the Arts. After a year long adventure at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, I returned to Nelson and completed KSA's mixed media program.Since 2001, I've been making art full time.

My paintings have been largely industrial in scope, despite having lived in a number of beautiful settings. The explanation for this discreancy is a mix of fear for the future, a sincere fascination  at the construction and very existence of these colossal man-made monuments to industry, and finally, an urgent love of color.

A Technical note

The foundation for each painting is a mounted piece of doorskin or wall-panel, recycled when possible. This series, as with all my paintings, was developed assembly-line style. Layers of acrylic are embellished with photographs and clippings, then finished with an oil glaze.
