I’ve created a home page for bringing back Theta Chi to Monmouth College. I’ve contacted Theta Chi National Executive Director David L. Westol (see attached memo). In addition I’ve contacted Monmouth College Alumni Association to get all Theta Chi alumni addresses under the pretense of having a Theta Chi reunion. It will benefit if you have email capability for communication purposes.
One month ago I sent a letter to you but have not heard back and do not have your phone number. I thought we should form a committee to bring Theta Chi back to Monmouth. To Monmouth administration this committee should be know only as Theta Chi alumni committee, not the reorganization committee. In the committee I thought it would be a good idea to have prominent brothers that have demonstrated success in their careers. Possibly prominent members of Monmouth College Senate or major contributors to the college. How we can go about choosing whom should be a part of the committee must leave open for now.
In addition, a preliminary petition is enclosed for distributed to all alumni; then given to the college by the committee or by National.
Theta Chi National has their agenda and this must be coordinated with their blessing (see memo enclosed). They have been going to Monmouth on a regular basis and discuss bringing Theta Chi back. The alumni can contribute also, but Theta Chi’s at Monmouth College received a bad reputation in the decade prior to its being removed from Monmouth College and Theta Chi National is fully aware of this and Mr. Westol, our National Executive Director, has made this fact painfully clear to me.
I need your input prior sending anything out to Monmouth College Theta Chi alumni. I am not willing to contact Monmouth administration about this issue until a reconnaissance has been accomplished with the new administration. Theta Chi National comes to Monmouth on a regular basis and planning a Theta Chi reunion at Monmouth with significant numbers and Theta Chi national in attendance is a good idea.
Prior to this if a committee is formed for the reorganization and a set agenda for the reunion is including is a good idea. A banquet/meeting schedule with Monmouth administration, reorganization committee, and National in attendance. Then a weekend of Theta Chi alumni, National and Monmouth administration might make the difference.
I will bring the home page to the attention of Theta Chi National and from now on keep you fully informed of the progress. If possible we may be able to plan a Theta Chi reunion for this upcoming year with the new administration possibly giving promise to the reorganization.
Please get in touch to coordinate efforts for a successful reorganization.
