| Involvement of Hunting Clubs | ||||||||||||||
| NJ hunting clubs worked for three years to get the County to open these parks for hunting and bragged that the hunt was a "done deal" even before the public hearings on the hunt. Until correspondence between James Truncer, Secretary/Director of the Board of Recreation Commissioners, and the Monmouth County Sportsmen Federation (sic) was discovered, the Board denied that hunting clubs were involved with the hunt decision Below is the Board's letter to a hunting club, promising to consult with the hunting club on the deer management issue and recommending that they get the support of the Freeholders behind this hunt. If this hunt is supposedly based on science, why wouldn't the scientific data be enough to convince the Freeholders to support the hunt? Why would the Freeholders need to be convinced by a hunting club to support the hunt? Because this hunt is a sport hunt. The Park System staff admit that they don't know how many deer are in the county parks. |
