Building a Sweat Lodge . . .

The Frame
Typically the frame is made from willow into a dome shape. This lodge is about seven feet across, four feet high and suitable for up to six  people.
Lashing the Cross Piece
Here I am lashing the horizontal braces to form the entrance. The entrance should face east.
Camouflage
By placing dead branches around the lodge you camouflage its presence. This helps to blend it into the natural surroundings.
The Entrance
When the hot rocks are in place in the pit in the center of the floor of the lodge, the overhanging tarp is pulled down and seals the entrance. This retains the steam in the lodge. The ground level perimeter of the tarp is weighed down by logs and branches.
