12" Drum
Maple frame with deer rawhide. The tassels are made from
the tail fur of the same deer that kindly provided the drum skin. |
Mitts - Coyote Trim
The beading is glass seed beads and the trim is coyote.
The mitts themselves are actually commercially available work mitts. I
just modified them to get this effect. The mitts are of a fair quality
and I couldn't buy leather as cheap as I bought these mitts with liners. |

Mitts - Tan
Another store-bought set of mitts, this time with fur,
beads and fringe added. |
Dream Catcher
This dream catcher is trimmed with rabbit fur and adorned
with porcupine needles and porcupine fur tassels. |
 |
 |
Cow parsnip Whistles
Simple whistles using dried cow parsnips stalks. |
Porcupine Fur
This is fur from the belly of road kill porcupine that
was originally picked up for the quills. The pelt was tanned with an egg
and oil mixture. |

Medicine Pouch
Beaded to represent the four directions. The leather
comes from an old and ripped leather coat that I picked up from a thrift
store. |
Willow Doll
A simple craft and a good one for kids. Made from red
osier dogwood - a willow. Split and formed while still green. |
 |
 |
Dream Catcher
Made from leather reclaimed from a 'mini-skirt'. These
make for reasonable 'crafting' leather at a good price. |
Dream Catcher
Another recycled leather source. The tassels are made
from the black tips of whitetail deer tail. |

 |
Beaded Moc Toe Plug
A glass seed bead design destined for a pair of moccasins.
The leather is smoke tanned elk. |
9" Drum
The finished drum with beater and case. The beater is a willow
stick and wrapped with cotton rags then soft chamois. The case is made
from an old 'mini-skirt' I picked up at a thrift store. |

Portable Chair
This is an old design for a portable chair supposedly
used by trappers and mountain men. It is made of two pieces as shown on
the left. The seat board is inserted into the backrest to form the chair.
Our grandkids decorated this chair for us. |
Chair Back
This chair back was made from a sawmill slab.
