Well, I'm going a bit out of order of my original plan, but I had an opportunity to get my Open Water Diver Certification from a PADI recognized dive shop.  If you have any Navy or Coast Guard buddies, then use Southeast Dive Adventures on Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville.  Complete cert. including two days diving in the Devil's Den in Williston, FL, all rental equipment, manuals, lodging and transportation for only $289.  By far the cheapest price I saw, and it was GREAT!
Andy supervised our swim test on Thursday 24 OCT, and we left at 1300 sharp on
Friday 25 OCT.  Our instructor was Deb Madison and she rocked!  By 0945 on Sunday 27 OCT I'd completed my final check out dive and was back home watching the Jags lose to Houston (unreal!) by 1630.  (Notice this military style time and date, it happens when you spend three straight days with a bunch of squids!)  I was wrong about how much fun I though SCUBA diving would be, it was WAY more fun than I could have imagined.  Hmmmm, maybe use my sailboat as a dive charter off Key West instead of an island hopping charter, combine two of my favorite new things in life.  If any of you are interested in Southeast Dive Adventures you can email Andy at [email protected].
Future diving updates are now contained on my DIVING JOURNAL pages.

Went sailing with John again, this time the wind was great!  Got up over 6.5 knots and heeled over about 25-30 degrees (my estimate anyway).  All doubts are now removed about whether I will like sailing.  Going that fast with no other sound than the wind and the waves is wonderful!  It's a bit depressing that September is fast approaching and my free time will decrease to nil until after the first of the year, but I know it won't be long until I'll get to sail again.  Thank heaven for Florida!  I can't believe everyone doesn't want to live here, but thank goodness, it's getting crowded!
