| Have you ever wondered just what the hell is wrong with all the people out there who are trying to figure out what the cause of all the violence in our society is? I know I have, because the answer is staring right at them every time they look in the fucking mirror. Lemme back up for a moment. This started when I read something in my local newspaper. A reply in the letters to the editor section that was addressing an earlier article on violence, specifically about whether guns are the cause of violence or not. The author of this letter agreed with the article, sort of, saying that people, not guns, cause violence. But then they go on to say that guns are the single biggest enabler of violence. I have to wonder if this idiot even reads the rest of the fucking paper. Let's make this easy. Guns are in NO WAY the cause of violence. They are a tool and nothing more. Even if somehow these dickless wonders do manage to outlaw guns, the level of violence will not decrease. I actually think it would be a fun experiment to try that for a little while and let them see just what happens. The letter implies that getting rid of the guns will stem the violence that is besetting our society. Well, I have to ask what about all the violence that we hear about every single fucking day? And some of these other types of violence are things that these same people are complaining about. What about domestic violence? 99% of the time there is no gun involved in that, so how is banning guns going to do any good? Will it help these unfortunate people who are victims of a husband, wife or parent who beats them? I think we all know the answer to that. At least any of us who have an IQ higher than single digits. And what about stabbings? Those seem to be on the rise recently as well. You can outlaw guns all you want, but people will still get stabbed. In fact, if you outlaw guns I'm willing to bet you will see a dramatic increase in stabbing deaths. Outlawing guns isn't an answer, and it never will be. Let's look at another part of this argument though, one that always brings a smile to my face, and that is Ex-president Clinton's law banning the sale of assault weapons. I think this is hysterical. I mean, of all the murders and other deaths in the United States by guns, how many of them actually involve assault weapons? One out of 200, and the number is steadily declining. So what I am wondering is how exactly this piece of legislation is actually going to lower the violence in our society. On top of that sobering statistic, the people using these weapons to commit crimes very rarely buy them in their local sporting goods store. They are purchased illegally from the back of someone's van. These people are already breaking the damn law, so why is one more going to stop them? The people making these laws have got to learn to start fuckin' THINKING. But that's the crux of the problem, these people don't think. Instead, there is the knee-jerk reaction to ban something, which always seems to be the answer to people no matter how many times human nature proves this wrong. But it makes them feel good for a little while, even though if they remove their goofy little blinders for a few moments they will see they have not, in fact managed to fix ANYTHING. I believe this is because most people are just fucking stupid, but that's a different subject. I don't know of any simpler way to say this. PEOPLE ARE FUCKING VIOLENT! It's in our very nature to be violent, and no amount of banning things or religion or civilization is going to be able to change human nature. We are all, each and every one of us, capable of tremendous violence. All it takes is the proper trigger and any one of us can snap and become a berserk engine of destruction and violence. The sooner people come to terms with this the better for us all. Even Mother Theresa, possibly the greatest lady who ever lived on this backwards little planet of ours had this in her, buried down deep. Now, I have nothing against Mother Theresa, but the only reason she never snapped is because whatever her trigger might have been, no one ever pulled it. That's all I'm saying. Name another species other than humans that kills for fun. Or kills because someone has something we want, but it's not something vital to our survival. Or kills because someone else believes in a different version of God. Or kills just because, with absolutely no reason, not even a bad one. Humans are the only species that act this way. And taking away guns isn't going to change any of that. People will simply find other ways to kill each other. We can be very creative when it comes to things like that. |
