Here�s the problem: Anybody who�s checked out my top ten lists knows how I feel about such �bands� as the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. These bands are all already inducted into the Hall of Shit, yet groups that DON�T suck haven�t even been nominated. Bands that have inspired and influenced literally THOUSANDS of other musicians. This is a travesty.
Twenty-five years has to pass after a band�s first album before they can be nominated. That�s cool. At least we know it�ll still be quite a while before they can make the mistake of nominating such unfiltered aural sewage as Nirvana or Eminem. But what I can�t understand is why they are ignoring bands that hundreds and thousands of musicians have cited as influences.
It has been thirty-one years since the release of Kiss� first album. There are bands already IN the Hall of Fame that cite them as an influence, yet they have not been nominated. It�s insane and stupid at the same time. How the fuck can anyone defend inducting U2, but not Kiss. It�s not possible.
Or Alice Cooper. Another legend in rock who inspired countless others who came after him. And he�s STILL going strong to this day! The fucking Ramones are in there, but no Alice Cooper? Who the fuck makes these picks, and do they even have ears?
Iron Maiden was eligible this year, but did they get a nod? Yeah, right. That would mean that they want to induct bands with musical talent, who actually DID something GOOD for rock & roll. Instead we get Blondie. Or the Dave Clark Five. The Sex Pistols have been nominated five times. Hey guys, newsflash. THEY SUCK!!!
And why is Grandmaster Flash being nominated for a second time? They�re making a big deal about him being the first rapper nominated. Um, am I the only one who sees a problem with this? Why don�t we nominate Beethoven as well? He�s about as close to rock as this dickhead is.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. And I�ve come to the conclusion that it�s completely meaningless. Just like any awards show, its bunk. It has absolutely nothing to do with who was good, who the public likes, or anything even remotely meaningful. It�s a small circle of people trying to make themselves feel important by basically saying, �We don�t care what any of YOU say, this is what WE feel should be here.� They�re snobs, and why should we give a fuck what they think anyway?
That being said, Kiss, Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden better ALL be nominated AND inducted next year, or I�m gonna blow up your fucking museum.
