So what's the big fuckin' deal with porn anyway?

So whats the big fuckin deal about porn anyway? Seriously, can anybody help me out with this? Cuz I have absolutely NO goddamn clue why some people are so vehemently opposed to its very existence. Anybody? No one else has any clue either?
And thats part of the problem. No one can explain to me what exactly is so bad about porn. All anyone can tell me is why THEY dont like it. But some dildo whos just as addicted to religion as a junkie is to crack not liking it does NOT make it bad. It just means they dont like it. Can I ask here why Im supposed to give a shit about this? I couldnt care less about what theyre watching on TV, so why are they so concerned about what IM watching? When I stop to think about it, their interest in my viewing choices is unhealthy, and kinda creepy. Why cant these imbeciles just live their OWN lives and stop fucking with mine?
Of course, there are all sorts of facts that these enlightened chowderheads love to inundate us with. Like the fact that viewing porn turns people into rapists. Sigh. Why are we still hearing this one? Its already been proven in numerous studies to be bunk, completely and totally false. But you dont have to be an expert to debunk this one. All that is required is a small dose of common sense, and maybe a dash of logic.
Adult entertainment is big business, one of the top moneymakers in the world so apparently a LOT of people must like it. If an industry makes 50 BILLION dollars a year, there have to be at least SOME fans of it, right? Its certainly not just 50 rapists spending a billion dollars each. Then they wouldnt have time to go out and rape anyone. No, there have to be millions of fans. Simple logic. Are ALL these people rapists? I think its a pretty fuckin safe assumption to say that theyre not. Again, simple logic.
How about just at my store alone? Well keep it simpler and keep the numbers smaller for the slower kids in the class. If I get 100 customers per day, (a low estimate on some days,) and were open 364 days a year, (closed on Christmas,) that means 36,400 people coming through my door per year. Thats a lot of fucking people, isnt it? Now, lets assume that half of them are regulars who are there maybe once a week. We still end up with about 20,000 people coming in in a given year. And how many of them have been arrested and charged with, or even just accused of, rape? None. Zero. Not a single fucking one. Zero out of 20,000. Interesting.
So what does this evidence do to the theory of porn being the cause of rape? I would say it pretty effectively DESTROYS it. And thats just at one store. Yeah, when you add in all the millions of other consumers of adult entertainment, you probably will find a few rapists. You will also find some working as cops, or teachers, or PRIESTS! So should we ban all of these as well, or are we going to continue to be selective in how far we are willing to go to abolish rape for good. Yeah, thats what I thought.
Actually, if we outlaw religion I am willing to bet wed see all sex-related crime dry up pretty goddamn fast. Like that would ever happen. Just like the drug problem, no one really wants to fix this. They just wanna whine about it and take a few more freedoms away from the rest of us so they can feel good about themselves by saying they tried. Who really cares about the truth anyway, right? These people all need to be taken out back and shot in the fucking head.
At this point it occurs to me that some people might be thinking, Hey wait. Dont you run an adult video store? Isnt this all a little bit biased coming from you? Yes and no. Yes, I do manage an adult video store, and yes, that MIGHT make me a little biased. But that doesnt make me wrong. In fact, it makes it far easier for me to point out the bullshit these people are shoveling at us since I know more about the industry than they do. Its that simple.
I think maybe we need to understand exactly what porn is. A lot of these idiots who are whining about porn don't even know what the hell they are complaining about, which seems to me would make it tough to decide whether its bad or not. Most of these fanatical rat droppings seem to think anything that depicts nudity is porn. That's interesting. So Michaelangelo was a smut-monger, right? Should art museums now be off-limits to those under 18? Or under 21? But I can hear the response now. "Well of course we don't mean the Renaissance artists. They weren't porn. They are classics." Okay, so where do we draw the line? When is something considered a "classic"? Especially something like art, which is so subjective anyway.
Then there are the religious zealots. You can't talk about porn without the Bible- thumpers sticking their two cents in. But they all seem to get really quiet when I ask one simple question. Who created the human body? If I remember my younger days in Religious Ed. classes correctly, GOD created the human body. Then man, in his supreme arrogance, comes along and covers up God's work. If I were God, I would be really pissed about clothing. But since I'm only human, I'm really happy about clothing so that people like Rush Limbaugh and Rosie O'Donnell are not wandering around naked. The thought makes my skin crawl.
So okay, Michaelangelo isn't porn. None of the "classic" artists are porn. The next thing would be modern artists. Does an artist have to be dead for his work not to be considered porn? Of course I'm asking because of the drawings of semi-nude women I did and posted over on my art page. Is that porn? I don't think so. I think it's art.
So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that drawings and paintings of nudes, no matter WHEN they were done, are not porn. So what about photographs? Is Playboy porn? If you ask me, I'm gonna say no. Because nudity alone is not porn. Period. Hopefully that is starting to sink in, cuz I'm getting tired of repeating it.
But if nudity isn't porn, then it still leaves us with the question of what exactly is porn? I would say that the term porn only applies to the really hardcore stuff. The X-rated stuff. The stuff that shows actually sexual penetration. Sometimes in a close-up! Which by the way, I for one do NOT find stimulating in the least. Who wants to see a giant dick taking up most of the screen as it enters some chick? I don't. If I wanted to see that, Id watch anything by Michael Moore.
So now that we have figured out what porn is, the question remains, what's so bad about it? I still don't get it. It's okay for people in a PG-13 rated movie to show some person getting riddled with bullets. And they do show the blood in PG-13, so it's not that cartoon violence stuff. It's realistic. So they are saying that showing people get horribly and brutally murdered is nowhere near as bad as watching them perform a perfectly harmless, natural act like sex? And then they wonder why our society is so fucked up. They spend millions of dollars on TV commercials telling kids to say no to sex, but NEVER ONCE do they make a commercial telling kids, "Don't shoot your classmates." Where is the fucking logic in this?
I think it goes back to that whole covering up God's work thing myself. If some idiot way back when had not decided to cover up for the first time, maybe we wouldn't be so fucking uptight to begin with. Humans in general, but particularly Americans, are so ashamed of their bodies, and so afraid of anything that has to deal with sex, that we have brainwashed the majority of our society into believing that it should always be a private thing. And then it should only be between a man and a woman who are married. And then it should only be in the bedroom. And there is only one acceptable position. Ever wonder why it's called the "missionary position"? I still firmly believe that if you outlaw religion instead of porn, you will have a much happier, well-adjusted society.
And then theres the media and their part in this interesting little puzzle. The media will use a big, bold headline when some group or other is trying to stop something they consider pornographic. It happened just the other day here in the local paper. There was a big headline on the front page about some new anti-porn law or something like that. I didn't actually read the article because I was quite sure I would be sickened by it. So the media is right there with all these other groups, saying how bad porn is, but right on the front page they place a HUGE banner headline with the word porn in it. Y'know why? Two words.
SEX SELLS.
Its that simple. That's why the newspapers and magazines and television news programs will all SCREAM as loud as they can about anything having to do with sex. They know it will bring them ratings. Or it will sell them more papers or magazines. They don't really wanna see porn go away, but they have to say they do so that the public will still trust them. Because remember, the public wants to keep sex safely locked away in the bedroom.
I guess the funniest part to me about all this is most of the people who are crying out so loudly about porn shops and topless bars and stuff like that in their neighborhood are the same people who frequent such places most often. And the only reason they want this stuff out of their neighborhood is so their neighbors won't see them there. I don't get that at all. When I go to a topless joint, I don't really give a rat's ass who sees me there. The only thing I'm wondering is why are they watching ME, instead of the show? But now these "moral crusaders" have it even easier, because they can try to get all this stuff out of their town, and not have to worry about where they will get THEIR porn. Ah, the wonder of the internet.
Also related to this subject are the goofy zoning laws and underhanded tricks a lot of towns try to use to make it nearly impossible for anyone to open an adult store. They cry and whine about the negative impact on the neighborhood, but this also has yet to be proven. I have worked at four of the places, and I havent seen it yet. Very rarely have we ever called the cops. In fact, I can only remember twice offhand. Once because of a medical problem, and once because there was a group of religious wackos blocking our parking lot in protest.
Its not the people coming to these shops that are the problem. Hell, for the most part theyre the people that are already in that neighborhood. The store didnt bring them there. And whats the deal with having to be a certain distance from a home or a school or a church or whatever? I have to ask, do these same rules apply for gun shops? Because I have seen a few of these located right next to a church or school. Once again, killing people is okay, but making them feel pleasure is bad. No wonder our country is so fucked up. We deserve to be probably worse than we already are. But dont worry, itll get there. Were sliding further downhill every day.
So after all of this, I STILL dont understand what the problem is with porn. There do seem to be a lot of people with negative views of it, some less than favorable opinions out there. But none of them are backed up by any facts. And while people obviously shouldnt need facts to back up an opinion, they do need them to tell me that this is bad. And since they cant do that I think its way past time for them to SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT!
