I pledge allegiance, to whatever I am ordered to pledge allegiance to
HOME BACK TO RANTS E-MAIL
I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America. And to the republic, for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
You all know that one, right? Anyone who entered public school after 1954 knows that, since we had to recite it every fuckin morning. Not that it was originally written in 1954. No, thats just when the Knights of Columbus, a fanatical religious group who denies they are a fanatical religious group, campaigned to have congress add the under God part to the pledge. So now, instead of simply being a patriotic oath reminiscent of Nazi Germany, it was also a public prayer.
And I think thats bullshit, but then Im sure thats not entirely unexpected from me. My views on religion really arent a secret. We have freedom of religion in this country, and one thing the pro-religion assbags always seem to forget is that also means freedom FROM religion. If you want to get on your knees and pray to some make-believe, invisible man, then go right ahead. If you want me to do it, we have a problem.
Originally, the Pledge did NOT contain any references to God. It was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a former Baptist minister. As originally written, the Pledge went; I pledge allegiance, to my flag, and the republic for which it stands. One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thats right, written by a minister with NO mention of God. More proof of how intolerant the religious folk of this society are of anyone who is not exactly like them.
And now the Pledge is once again going before court to see if the under God part should stay or not. A few years ago when this was brought up, I got really agitated by it. I saw the religious zealots trying to once again run our country. And to a degree I still feel that way, but not nearly as strongly now.
Because now I see it for what it is. It doesnt matter if there are references to God or Satan or Liberace or anyone or anything else. The very fact that there is a pledge that HAS to be recited by our nations young on a daily basis is bad enough by itself. There should be no such requirement. It has nothing to do with loving our country, or patriotism or any other such nonsense. Its the American version of Nazism, and its a scary fuckin idea.
Besides, how many people do you know who really love the republic for which it stands anymore? Im sure there are many people, like myself, who still believe in the ideals this country was founded upon. Its a shame the government doesnt believe them anymore. Thus, they keep fucking with the pledge, which has been changed several times since it was originally written way back in 1892.
'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' This is what was originally written, with none of the God shit in there. And there was no reason to add it, except that there are some nimrods who want to turn our once-great country into yet another one of those religious states you find in the Middle East. And that retarded fucker with the ears who currently occupies the White House is worse than any President before him in this area.
Now of course, some complete chowderheads want to add the words, born or unborn to the end of the pledge. Now, whatever your stance on abortion, you have to admit that this is flying to new heights of stupidity. I myself dont believe in abortion, except in certain situations. But I also will never be pregnant, so I dont really have a say in it, do I? And neither does anyone else with a penis. So every single priest in the country can shut the fuck up about it now, cuz while most of you dont have a penis either, youll never be pregnant, and thus you have absolutely no say in the matter. If they for some unknown reason allow this abomination to occur, I will ground my children until they are eighteen if they utter those words as part of the pledge.
And some other group of single-digit IQ malcontents want to add the word equality to the pledge. Even though Bellamy DID originally want it in there, they dont belong there. Thats because there IS no equality in this country, and there never will be. And if you think there is, or ever will be without RADICAL changes, youre part of the problem. Not to mention an idiot.
All this going on about the pledge of allegiance doesnt mean I hate America, although Im also not some rabid, moronic flag-wearing retard from Montana either. What it means is that I dont give a shit about manufactured symbolism especially when the institution in question, (America,) doesnt stand for the same things it did when this little ode was written. Im an American, yes, and that means I can disagree with any or all of what this country, not to mention its government, is currently doing.
I pledge allegiance, to absolutely nothing. And if these needledicks dont like that, they can go fuck themselves.
