Cops - do they really serve a purpose?

Well, I guess it's inevitable. Any civilization that achieves sufficient advancement is always going to have its undesirable element. Those shitbags that no one wants around, but we just can't seem to find a way to get rid of them. People so repugnant that even the very thought of them brings feelings of revulsion bubbling up to the surface.
What the hell is up with cops, anyway? They're supposed to be there to serve and protect us, right? So why is it that 999 times out of a thousand all they do is harass us? And why is it that nobody does anything about this shit? They can't go a single day without breaking at least ten of the laws they are supposed to be there to uphold, so why aren't these cocksmokers being taken to task about it? Some people look at the youth of our country and fear for the future. Not me. I look at these dickheads with badges and I fear for the present.
Do you realize just what kind of shit they are allowed to get away with that the rest of us cannot? I mean on top of the whole not being able to follow the same rules of the road that we get tickets if we disobey to save their lives thing. I was pulled over one time when my registration was due. Now this was on a Saturday night or something like that. The DMV is not open on Saturday, and I had been working late Friday, a day I did not at that time normally work at all, so I could not get there when I planned to. So I was planning on going before work Monday morning. But here I am Saturday night driving home, and all of a sudden a car pulls out of a side street and comes flying up behind me. I am going the speed limit, so there's not a problem there and I just keep on driving. But about five miles later there's the Goddamn flashing lights. So I pull over and he goes right to the registration sticker, then starts writing me a ticket for it. I explain the situation, but officer no-nuts could give a shit. Fine, he doesn't know me, and I am not naive enough to think no one ever lies to these pricks to get out of a ticket.
So he gives me the ticket, and starts to walk away. I lean out of the car and ask the pencil-dick why he pulled me over in the first place, and I hear the most frightening words I had heard since my ex-wife said, "I do." He tells me he was just running a random check on my plates. My blood went cold. I asked the people at the town court about this when I went to pay the fine, and they said that yeah, cops do that all the time. They used to need probable cause to stop someone, but not anymore. Now they can do it because they are bored. I asked if anyone at the court had ever heard of Adolph Hitler, and they looked at me like I was nuts. But I don't care what they think, this is a frightening situation. The people who are supposedly here to protect us and have been able to get away with almost any crime at all now don't even need to have reasons to do whatever they feel like doing. Tell me that doesn't scare you and I'll tell you that you should have asked God for more than three brain cells.
How about this one. I used to work nights and I would be coming home about three in the morning. On the road I took home the speed limit dropped to 30 to go through a small town, and then went back up to 55. During a two week period I saw the same two cops go flying through the little town, with their lights flashing and all. A couple of miles up the road all three times I would see them sitting at a convenience store eating donuts, (no, I am not kidding,) drinking coffee and talking to the clerk. The third time this happened I stopped at the store, bought a Pepsi or something, and wrote down the numbers of the cars. Then I went home and called the State Troopers barracks right next to where I lived, and told them the whole story. I never saw those two assholes doing that again. I am not deluding myself into thinking I stopped them, but at least they had to switch the time they would do that, and maybe, just maybe, if there is any justice in the world, they had to deal with stale donuts after that. One can only hope.
Then of course you get the jerkoff that will tailgate you for 10 miles trying to get you to fuck up on the road. Then he finally gets bored and goes off to harass someone else. Now normally, due to a flaw in the system, (GASP!) if someone is tailgating you, you just slam on your brakes and let them hit you, and when the scrotal infection with the badge shows up, you saw a cat running across the road. The guy in the back is always wrong. That is, unless the guy in the back is a cop. Then it won't really matter if you saw a cat, two puppies, three infants, four nuns helping five cripples and Christ himself in the road and didn't want to hit them, you will still be in the wrong.
And on a related note, what the hell is this shit about the penalties being higher for committing a crime against a cop than they are for committing the same crime against anyone else. I have heard some stupid ideas in my time, but this one has GOT to be up near the top. Keep in mind, these guys CHOOSE to do this, and by their very job description they are going to have to deal with less than reputable characters. Y'know, like other cops, politicians and so on. But they get
paid to take these kind of risks. And that's not counting all the drug money they steal and the bribes they accept, so they are well-compensated for whatever risks they are taking. I think the penalty should be LOWER for crimes committed against cops. And not only because of what I mentioned here, but also because sometimes these people committing these "crimes" against cops are just doing their part to weed out the bad element in society.
Ya wanna know what's funny though? These bicycle cops prancing around the park in their cute little shorts pretending they're real cops. These jagoffs don't really think anyone respects them, do they? I hope not. I mean, I know cops aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, generally speaking, but they can't be stupid enough to believe that, can they? These guys are a joke, and pretty much everyone knows it.
Another funny thing about these dildos is when you see them sitting in the parking lot at the local convenience store. There is never only one of them. They're like Jehovah's Witnesses in that way, you don't see one by himself. There always has to be a group of them sucking down the fresh donuts and coffee.
And speaking of the donuts and coffee, there's something else that pisses me off. Do you realize that most of the time these fuckin' chowderheads don't even pay for the stuff they eat or drink? They stop all day long and get this shit for free, and then I gotta pay a Goddamn buck and three quarters for a fuckin' soda because the owner of the place has to make up his losses to these fuckers somewhere. God DAMN but I am sick and tired of these worthless shitstains.
And the sad thing is there's nothing we can do about it, because too many people don't even want to admit that the problem exists. Instead they produce TV movies and specials praising these assclowns and saying what heroes they are. They like to talk about how great a job they did with the September 11 thing. Well, no disrespect to the families or memories of the victims, but what exactly did these meatheads do? The buildings still fell, didn't they? Did they do anything about the people responsible? No. Yeah, I know, the people
directly responsible were already dead, but that's beside the point. What else did they do? They helped with clean up and such. They helped keep order during a crisis. Well, THAT'S THEIR FUCKING JOB! You wanna know who the heroes are? They're the people from hundreds of miles away who jumped into their cars to go down and help, regardless of what it would cost them. Those are the heroes, the firemen are the heroes. The cops were just glory-hounds. They were looking to get nice fat budget increases so they could get more money for less work.
Fuck cops. Disrespect them any and every chance you get. This is what they have earned, what they've brought on themselves. Years ago cops were respected in the neighborhoods, but that was back before they all became drunk on their authority and acquired this Gestapo mentality they have all adopted. Now they don't deserve any respect, and I guarantee you they don't get any from me. Fuck cops.
