O-shen

Already a superstar in his native homeland of Papua New Guinea, the recording artist known as O-shen is bridled to take the international music scene by storm. His music (which he calls Urban Island Music) is a fusion of hip-hop, rap and reggae, and his lyrics and vocal styling are a direct reflection of his Pacific Island upbringing.

Raised on the Island of Papua New Guinea, O-shen landed on Hawaiian shores early in 1998. In 2000, he burst on to the Hawai'i music scene with his debut album, "Iron Youth," an explosive and furious collection of songs that became the biggest selling island music album ever seen. It was honored with the distinguished N Hk Hanohano Award for Reggae Album of the Year (Hawaiis version of the Grammys).

In 2000, O-shen teamed up with the Hobo House On The Hill production team and record label to produce the compilation CD "Island Warriors." A reflection of Hawaiis best island music and reggae artists, "Island Warriors" was nominated and made the final ballot for a prestigious Grammy Award for Reggae Album of Year.

In 2002, O-shen and the Hobo House On The Hill production team came together again to record his second CD Rascal In Paradise which released in February 2002. Rascal In Paradise was created with an unstoppable combination of talent which created infectious tunes fused with positive lyrics. This new step in O-shen's musical journey gave him the opportunity to grow both as an artist and entertainer.

O-shen is a charismatic entertainer on stage, and has performed for sold-out audiences throughout the Pacific Islands. His music has touched many people from coast to coast, from Miami, Florida to Tahiti, French Polynesia. In 2001, he completed a sold out tour in Guam, Saipan, Palau and Tahiti.

It has been an incredible journey from O-shen's humble beginnings of raising the money to finance his own recording to his newest 2004 release, Rising Son," but O-shen's determination to make his mark in the music industry has brought him to the edge of international success. In June 2006 Sharpnote Records will release O-shens fifth album, which will include features of the legendary Bunny Rugs from Third World and the Energy God Elephant Man. O-shens 2006 release will be one of the most influential albums coming out of Hawaii. Even with all of O-shens success, he still remains grounded, and his commitment to being true to himself and not misrepresenting his Pacific Island Heritage shines through in his music.
