Chapter 4: Stuck up When AJ made it home he had to deal with Jessicas relentless rambling and nagging about how she had to call a friend to take her home and how she was so embarrassed. The only thing she actually seemed a little interested about was that AJ didnt have to pay any attorney fees. She didnt like the idea of him having to take some girl out, but the money issue eased her mind about it. They were late getting to dinner which was at Kevins house. When they made it there Laura, Kevins wife greeted them with a warm smile. She had her short blond hair up in a twist. She wore a red halter top and a short skirt. Glad you guys could make. Wasn't sure if you were still coming or not. She said closing the door behind them. When all of them had settled at the table and began eating AJ told Kevin about the good news of finding a lawyer that would work for free. That sounds good. So whats the catch? The older dark haired gentleman asked the other taking a drink of his wine. Well, he wants me to take his daughter out. His daughter? Thats sweet, so you have to baby-sit for him? Laura asked. Actually his daughter is 22. Jessica said looking at AJ with a strange look. He just wants me to watch her though. It wont be like a real date, just a business arrangement type of thing. Shes only going to be here for a week or something. I think it sounds good. Have you told Brian or Howie yet? Kevin asked him. No, actually I thought they were going to be here tonight. Brian said he wont be able to get here until next week. He said something about having to stay in Kentucky a couple more days for something, cant remember. And Howie had to be somewhere else tonight. Some kind of business thing, you know how he is. I'll call them up tomorrow and tell them. So AJ how are you doing? I know today must of been hard for you, with your fathers funeral and all. Laura started as Kevin shot her a look that said be quiet. Oh, today was a pretty bad day; the funeral wasn't even the worse of it though, because right after my meeting with Barry I got stuck in the elevator. The elevator stopped. That must have been horrible. Laura added. Yeah, well that wasn't even the worse part... I was left at Gardenias with no way home. Jessica said butting in; sounding like it was the worse experience in her life. Oh. Laura said giving a sympathetic look. Yeah, I dropped her off there, right before I went. But even though the elevator stopping was bad, who I was stuck in it with was even worse. It was this stuck up girl that got all mad at me after she found out I was in the Backstreet Boys. She was rude before she knew who I was, but after, she was even ruder. I couldnt believe it. Oh she was just jealous. I run into those types all the time. There mad because they dont have the status you have or because there not as wealthy. And since they cant be like you, they put you down. You really cant mind people like that. What matters is you know youre a good person. Laura said while she put corn into her mouth. Well, what did she say? Kevin asked. Just a bunch of stuff about how I thought I was better then other people because I was in a group. Thats kind of funny. How old was she? She looked like she was 20 I guess. Was she cute? Wasnt really checking her out Kevin, especially after she insulted me. Besides, I already have a girl. He said smiling at Jessica as she smiled back at him giving him a kiss on the cheek. Kevin looked over at Laura and rolled his eyes. All Im saying is maybe she was trying to play the hard to get game. Maybe she actually liked you and didnt know what to say. Well if I ever see her again I could think of a lot of things I would like to say. AJ said looking over at Kevin. As they went on eating their meal Kevin started talking about some job offers and business matters. The women listened to him intensely as AJ drifted off still thinking of the rude girl in the elevator. For some reason he was just so mad at her. What gave her the right to talk to him that way? He wasn't a spoiled rich person; he was down to earth and nice. She didnt know anything about his life, nothing at all. |
