Chapter 2: The Deal As he entered the large building we walked straight toward the elevators. He went inside and pushed number 19. He felt tired as he got off and walked toward the office down the hall. Hello, my name is AJ. I have an appointment with Barry Woods, He said politely as he looked at the secretary. One second please, she said dialing someone on the phone. Mr. Woods will see you now. She said two minutes later pointing to the door behind her. He walked in and greeted the older looking man with a hand shake. The man was short and pudgy with dark hair. He wore a black suite with a dark green tie that almost matched his eyes. Barry explained to him what his groups problems were and why they needed him and his team. Barry had helped them before, but that had been years ago. Sounds like I could help. He said looking down at his papers. So is that a yes, are you on the job? AJ asked, still unsure of his answer. Well, I've known you guys for a while now. You even longer AJ, since me and your uncle are good friends. So I'll tell you what, if you do a favor for me I'll defiantly squeeze your case in and help you guys out. Whats the favor? AJ asked with a questioning look on his face. Well, Im in a tight spot at the moment. My Daughter has come from Florida and I dont have time to take her around. Barry started. Daughter? I didnt know you had a daughter, I thought you just had a son. Yes, well her mother was my second wife. We divorced a while ago, and she took her and moved away. So what, shes never been to California before? AJ asked. No thats not it. Actually this will be her fifth time here since shes moved away. See, usually I provide her with someone. You know, to accompany her to parties, show her a good time, that kind of stuff. Mostly to keep her out of my hair and to make sure she doesnt get in any trouble. Barry, Im sorry but Im not a baby-sitter. I dont know anything about kids. No, no, shes not little. Shes not a kid, shes 22. Just a little younger then you are. I would only need you to take her on four dates, thats it. The fourth date being her brothers marriage. thats why shes here, to see the wedding. The rest of the time she'll be with people and I'll be around. Seeing how shes 22 and all, dont you think she might just want to chill by herself or maybe with friends you might not know about. No, see thats exactly what must not happen. No weird friends. no getting in trouble. Shes 22 but believe me sometimes its hard for her to act her age. This is crazy listen; Nick would be great for this. He and his girlfriend just broke up a month ago and hes practically the same age as her. I can just call him up, Im sure hed be happy to do it. No, I think you would be better. I dont want her hooking up with any guys while shes here. When she goes home she can do that. I just want her watched after. Tomorrow at two I'll need you, and then on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Barry pronounced. I cant do this, really, I mean first of all I have a girlfriend. Our anniversary is on Friday and shes kind of jealous you know and... Aj, its just a business arrangement. Im sure she'll understand once you explain it to her. For your help I wont even charge you for the case. Barry said smiling. AJ thought about it, the agreement actually started to sound good. They wouldnt be charged for attorney fees which would be really great for the guys. Court cases were expensive, and once Jessica heard that, she would defiantly go along with it. She hated when he had to use his money on things other then her. All he would have to do is take a girl out a few times, how hard could that be? It wasn't like he hadn't taken out a million girls before. Besides, he was a Backstreet Boy she would probably just be impressed by that alone. So AJ we have a deal buddy? I scratch your back you scratch mine? Barry asked sticking out his hand. Yeah okay. AJ said shaking it. The deal had been made but little did he know that one little deal could change his entire life. |
