Chapter 11: Everything is okay
As he continued driving darkness fell. As Serenity awoke the snow flakes on the window caught her eye. She sat up straight and yawned. �What time is it? How long have I been asleep?� She asked in a soft voice. �So, you�re talking to me now hu?� AJ replied back to her. �Never mind.� She said as she turned toward the side window. �I was just kidding; I think it�s about 8:00.� He told her. �8:00? Do you even know where we are? Have we even passed by any more gas stations?�
�No we haven�t. I tried to go back the opposite way when I realized it was getting dark out, but seems like I just ended in circles. I also tried to use my cell phone and it�s completely dead.�
�What?! AJ were going to run out of gas eventually. It�s snowing harder then before what if we get stuck out here in the snow. There�s no way we can reach anyone.� She said sounding panicked.
�Serenity calm down, everything is going to be okay.�
�How can you say that when were lost in the middle of no where.�
�Hey, listen. Nothing is going to happen. I promised your dad I would take care of you, and I am. Were going to be fine, don�t worry.�
�I don�t need you�re protecting, I can protect myself.� She said rolling her eyes and looking out the side window. �I have to use the bathroom.� Serenity said sternly. �Well what do you want me to do? There�s no bathrooms around.� AJ told her. �Just pull over to the side or something. I'll go in the trees.� She replied.
�I�m not going to let you go into the trees by yourself.�
�Well what if you have no say in the matter.�
�I�ll stand on the side while you go.� He said as he pulled over. AJ walked with Serenity as she walked partly into the wooded area. �Could you please go wait for me on the street, I'll be fine.� She told him as he stood by. �Serenity...� AJ stopped his sentence as he stared into the trees. �What?� She asked as she turned around quickly. �Do you see that?� He asked pointing. �It looks like a little road. Like a drive way.� She said. �Yeah, maybe someone lives down it. Come on get in the car. If their�s a house you can pee inside.� He said as he walked back to the car. They drove through the trees carefully as they reached the small bumpy road. They had driven down the road only 2 minutes until they came upon the small little log cabin that stood before them. �Yes!� AJ said as he parked the car. �This isn't the cabin my dad�s at.� Serenity said lowly. �Yeah, but we can use their phone to reach your dad.� AJ said as he got out the car. As they approached the door the stairs they went up squeaked. AJ knocked hard at the door. He waited a second and knocked again. �No one is here, it�s too dark. Their�s no light coming from the inside.� Serenity judged. �Great!� AJ exclaimed. �Try he windows.� Serenity suggested. �She went to the right side window and pushed from the side. The window slowly budged and gave way opening. �Wow, break in much?� He spouted. �Help me though.� She told him. �I think you should let me go first.� AJ replied back to her. �AJ don�t argue with me, just give me a boost okay. I can do this.� She said as she stood on her tip toes trying to see what was in the house. AJ boosted her up and she fell into the opening. �You okay?� He yelled up to her. �Yeah I�m fine.
