Chapter 31

When Saturday came AJ was all ready for his date. Even though his mind had been set on Serenity for the last few days. He had told himself he was going to push those thoughts aside for one night. When Sandra arrived she brought a bottle of champagne with her.

He chilled it and pulled dinner out to the table. He had planed on cooking something, but at the last minute he decided to call out and have something delivered from a high priced restaurant.

As they sat across from each other, AJ handed Sandra a rose. She smiled, as she took it and held it up to her nose. Everything is so pretty. I love the way you decorated your house. Even the table looks beautiful. I almost feel like Im at an expensive restaurant. She told him.

Well someone beautiful was coming, I had to make everything match.

Sandra giggled as she heard his words. Your so cute, and this pasta is really good. She told him as she finished chewing.
Well, Im glad you like everything.

Like I wouldnt? Everything you do probably turns out great.

I wouldnt say that. I just wanted this date to be nice.

Well you should know you defiantly have succeeded so far. A sly smile appeared on her face.

When they had finished their meal they sat down in AJs den and started talking. AJ set the mood by playing soft music. They talked about their families, their jobs, and meaningless things neither one cared about. They also talked about their past relationships. Then Sandra started talking about her music.

My music is something that is very important to me. I love to write even though Im not much of a singer. I should have brought by some of the stuff Ive written. But you can always let me listen to your stuff. She said getting closer to him as she set her glass of champagne down on the table.

Umm, well its not really finished. I have some finishing touches to put on a lot of the songs. He protested.Doesnt matter, let me hear what you do have. We can go to your studio and get a little more comfortable. She told him as she slid her hand across his chest. Just you and me, a little champagne and some music. It sounds like a good idea to me. So how about you take me to the studio.

I dont know, I really like to have my music finished when I let people listen to it. Im kind of protective of it.

Thats okay, its only me.

Im just not ready, you know?

Come on, its just me. You dont have to be scared of me. She said as she crawled in to his lap. She put her arms around his neck and moved her body closer to his. Sandra, I just....

Ahh. Sandra let out as AJs glass of champagne waist in her lap. She stood up immediately and tried to brush the rest of it off. Let me get you a towel. AJ said as he rushed to the kitchen.

She grabbed the towel from his hands as soon as he returned and started to dab her dress. Im sorry. He apologized. No, its okay. I mean, you told me you didnt want me to listen to your music and I just kept on insisting. Its my fault. She said as she took her seat.

I really didnt mean to spill my drink on you, Sandra. It had nothing to do with you wanting to hear my music.

I know, but it Doesnt matter anyway. We can have fun right here. We dont need music, we can make our own. She said as she smiled and leaned in and kissed him. She pulled herself up and leaned on to him and she returned her arms to his neck. As she continued kissing him one of her hands reached into his hair as the other one fell to his stomach and started to work its way underneath his shirt. AJ pulled away as the hand went farther up.

Need a breather? Sandra asked as AJ pulled his lips away. I cant do this. He told her as he looked up at her.

Sure you can...believe me, you can. She replied moving in to kiss him again. As she kissed him, both of her hands started to search under his shirt again.

Wait. Stop. AJ mumbled before standing up. As he stood Sandra fell to the floor.

Whats wrong with you! I thought we were just having a little fun! Geez, psycho! I try to be nice and you spill champagne on me, then you drop me. Sorry I even tried. Sandra yelled as she grabbed her purse.

Sandra, Im sorry, okay. But I guess my idea of fun isnt fooling around, not right now anyway. I mean, we just met.

I know, but I thought we were really vibeing AJ, thats all. But I guess you didnt feel the same way. I mean geez, I feel like weve just switched rolls here. Im usually the one telling the guy to slow it down. Not the other way around. I understand though, your just not ready to move on yet. I get that, your ex still holds a place in your heart and thats okay. Now, I have to go, its getting late and I think the date is pretty much over. Thanks for a nice dinner though. She said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

He walked her to the door and saw her off. He couldnt believe he had just done what he did. Usually he would have taken Sandra to his bedroom right away. But now, he was pushing girls away from him. What was wrong with him? Before Serenity, AJ dated all the time and slept around too. He was a totally different person and he had no idea what to do with himself.

The whole date seemed like a disaster in his eyes. Through the whole thing his mind hadnt even been on Sandra and maybe thats why it ended so badly. She knew what he couldnt bring himself to admit. Part of him just couldnt seem to let go of Serenity. He wondered if he would ever really be free of her.
