Chapter 27
The next day AJ had a date with another girl. This blind date however was set up by Kevin. He and his wife had tried to set AJ up once before and since it didn�t go so well the first time, Kevin asked him to give him one more chance. Again AJ found himself standing outside some strange women�s door.
When the door opened a very tall women appeared. She was actually taller then him. She had black shoulder length hair and her eyes were a dark blue. She looked like a cross between a model and a business women.
She half smiled as she greeted him and asked him to come in. She took the flowers he gave her and put them in a vase. She wore a short skirt and a loose fitting shirt with high heals. On their way to the restaurant she rambled on about her dentist and how he had pulled the wrong tooth in her mouth.
�So Denise, actually my mother�s name is Denise also.�
�Oh yeah, what a coincidence.� She smiled.
Yeah, so, what do you do?� He asked her after they had finished ordering their food.
�Right now I�m getting into advertising.�
�That sounds cool.�
�Yeah, but can you believe after being with this company for five months they laid me off? I mean I don�t understand it. And then on top of that they gave another girl a raise, after she had only been working there two months. It�s crazy, so I was like I deserve better anyway. Which reminds me of this other women that I heard of in the news that sued her boss for firing her. I was thinking about doing that but then I was like, forget it. Which makes me think about my sister. She lives in Arizona, she has three kids and her husband left her five months ago because she was cheating on him. But anyways, she�s always suing people. She once sued this store because they didn�t have a ramp out for handicap people and she�s not even handicapped herself. People are always suing today. I mean the whole nation has gone sue happy. Have you heard about...�
AJ just listened as Denise started to fade out in his ears. She just rambled on and on about things he could care less about. It almost amazed him how she seemed to talk without having to take in any air. The rest of the night was spent with her talking and AJ listening.
�She�s awesome, believe me. Don�t worry, you�ll love her.� Was what Nick told AJ over the phone after hearing about the dates Brian and Kevin had set up for him. He told AJ he knew a girl named Wendy who would be perfect for him. And so, he set AJ up on yet another date. It had been a week since his last dates and for some reason he had just agreed to go on another one. This is what I should be doing, going on with my life. Getting out there and starting again. He told himself as he approached the women�s door step.
�Hello!� A peppy young blond said as she appeared in the door way. �You must be AJ, it�s so nice to meet you. Nick has told me so much about you already. I almost feel as if I know you already.� She said with a plastered smile on her face. Her light blue eyes sparkled as her bouncy blond hair fell in ringlets around her shoulders. AJ did have to give it to Nick, she was really pretty. She was almost like a life size Barbie doll.
When they reached the restaurant she ordered a large salad bowl. �So AJ what are you doing at the moment? I know that the Backstreet Boys are on a break right now.� She asked still smiling.
�Right now I�m just taking a vacation, not doing any press at all, just working on my music. Relaxing.�
�Yeah, that sounds good. Actually I�ve been taking a break myself.�
�What do you do?�
�I model, it�s a lot harder then people think it is. You have to get up at awful hours and then you have to go through three hours of hair and makeup. And then after all of that, you have to stand and try and look pretty for like, five hours.�
�Un,hu.� He nodded taking a drink of his water.
�I mean, it seems pretty easy, but it�s not always. Like a couple of months ago I had to go to Hawaii for this shoot. And the whole time there I had to stand under this water fall in nothing but this little bathing suite bottom, and like, half a top. The water was freezing, and I had to stand there and pretend to be sexy. It was just awful.�
The date went on with mindless chatter about modeling and eating healthy. When the date was finally over, AJ walked her to her door step. She planted a huge kiss on his lips and invited him in, while trying to unbutton his pants. He declined and pulled away from her. All of his dates so far had been horrible.
�What do you mean she tried to seduce you?� Howie asked as he and AJ sat in a club having a drink. �Just what I said. She was beautiful, but I guess I wasn�t ready for that. She was too much like Jessica, except she was just...more.� AJ told him.
�More? More then Jessica?� Howie laughed.
�It wasn�t funny. I think I�m done with the whole dating thing.�
�No, no, I know someone that you might like.�
�Oh no, this is how my conversation with Brain started just before he set me up with the preacher�s daughter.� He rolled his eyes.
�No really, she�s a cool girl. Her name is Sandra and she�s a friend of my sisters. Right now she�s trying to get into the music business. She wants to produce and write. That kind of stuff. Anyway, this girl is great at writing. I�ve heard her stuff and I think it�s awesome. I think you guys would get along great.� Howie told him.
�Humm.�
�Really, I swear. She�s not a weirdo. Are you free tomorrow? Because I know she is, she loves to party, you guys can go out. Meet each other. How about it? Give one more blind date a try?�
