What a marvelous web site. Congratulation on the excellent presentation of so much material! My mother's maiden name was Freudenthal and she was the youngest of three children of Josef Freudenthal and my grandmother Erna nee Dewitz. My mother and her brothers (Fritz and Heinz) were born in K�ln. I have so far been unable to find out more information about my grandfather Josef other than that he died in K�ln in 1922 and that he was a successful business. It would be interesting to know if there is some connection to the Freudenthals of Tann. Greeting and best wishes, Joe Davidson

Very beautiful and instructive site. My own family is not from Tann, however, but rather from Breslau, where we can follow the genealogy back to about the middle of the 19th century only. When I studied mathematics, some 30 years ago, I skimmed through Hans Freudenthal's book, which was very inspiring. I have subsequently often been asked if I were related to him. I used to reply that I do not think so; as from today I KNOW that I am not,

My paternal grandmother, Bertha Juengster, was born in Tann 10/22/99. She was the daughter of Leopold Juengster of Tann (8/30/1863-1/12/1936) and Clara Jacobs born 10/11/1874 in Riga. Leopold's father was Mannes (Menasseh) Juengster of Tann (8/15/1837-10 9/1094). Mannes' father was Salomon Juengster of Tann (dates unknown to me). Does this fit?

My father in law Ernest G Freudenthal was born and raised in Tann and knew a great many of the Freudenthal's. He is a walking history book and I have an extensive freudenthal Genealogy.
