The chalet is called "Summer Springs" in honor of the springs that sprout on its northeast corner in the summer. It offers beautiful surroundings and views seen through the huge picture windows on all floors. Sliding glass doors lead to the expansive deck at tree level which gives the impression of being in a tree house. You can sit and enjoy the many birds that fly across the property: different species of carpenter birds, owls, hummingbirds, and several different types of finches; in the afternoon, deer and turkey cross the property. If you wake up early enough, you'll see deer grazing in the clearing right across from the sliding glass door in the master bedroom. On a clear night, you can see all the stars!!

Location: Summer Springs is located in the beautiful Cacapon South community near Berkeley Springs, WV. The community was voted "Best Development of the Year" by the West Virginia Homebuilder's Association a few years back. It is centrally located between Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and is less then two hours from Washington, DC, with easy access to Hwy 522 and 9, and Routes 70 and 81. Routes 7, 66, and 50 also take you there through Winchester.

It is directly across from 6000-acre Cacapon State Park (also known as Cacapon Resort), with its 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course, more than 20 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, paddleboats, picnic areas, basketball courts, tennis, a restaurant and recreation center. The chalet is also minutes from the historic town of Bath, also known as Berkeley Springs, where you can "take the waters" as George Washington used to do at the Berkeley Springs State Park. Here you will enjoy its natural mineral baths, and excellent massages. There are several other spas that offer a wide range of health and beauty treatments (check the brochures on the bookcase.) Berkeley Springs is a very eclectic town where you can find excellent local art, natural soaps and medicines, a unique homeopathic pharmacy, coffee shops where the coffees offered rival those of Starbucks, a few antique shops and an antique mall, and good food from the very gourmet to your regular pizza parlor. Don't miss the Farmer's Market on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nearby, the "The Woods" resort provides amenities such as spas, fitness center/gym, indoor swimming, entertainment, sledding, and restaurants. For ski lovers, the chalet is just a 40-minute drive to White Tail and other ski locations. Other popular sights and activities include the C&O Canal Towpath, Rails to Trails, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon and Potomac River float trips, canoeing, kayaking, Civil War Battlefields, and nearby historic Harper's Ferry. Lest we forget, close by are also Hagerstown with its outlet mall, and in the other direction, Charles Town with the casinos.
