WHAT IS JUNGLE?

Jungle is the densest part of a rainforest, the part that contains the most life.
The word “jungle” comes from Sanskrit jangala, meaning “uncultivated land”.
Only six percent of the Earth is jungle, but more than half of all species live there.

Lion

A large wild cat that has golden brown fur and that lives mainly in Africa. Known as the king of the Jungle.

Tiger

A large Asian carnivorous mammal of the cat family having a usually tawny coat transversely striped with black.

Monkey

A type of animal that is closely related to apes and humans and that has a long tail and usually lives in trees.

Cheetah

A long-legged spotted swift-moving African and formerly Asian cat about the size of a small leopard that has blunt non retractile claws.

Hippopotamus

A large African animal that has an extremely large head and mouth and short legs and that spends most of its time in water.

Owl

Chiefly nocturnal birds of prey with a large head and eyes, short hooked bill, strong talons, and soft fluffy often brown-mottled plumage.
