THE POETS come to life in 1998,when Lorenzo Mingardi,the future bass player,decides to form a group characterized by a 60's sound;he immediately asks his friend Matteo Cincopan,a great Beatles fan like him,to join the band and for a brief period they rehearse together songs like Run for your life,I'm down,Norwegian wood and several italian beat songs,but they still lack a valid rhythm section.

But then,in November 1998,Matteo meets by chance the future drummer,Matteo Ferretti,at a lecture....

They begin to rehearse together,they produce their own first song, I want to make you happy, and they even find two female singers,who they want to play a mix of blues and beat music with,but it doesn't work from the beginning, so, while waiting a singer who maybe will never arrive,the solo voice is Matteo Cincopan.

At Christmas 1999 all their original material is collected in their first demo BEGGING FOR LOVE,released in precarious conditions;homely recording,only three days available,a feverish bass player and a huge hungover after holiday.

In the meantime the band has definitely changed its name in THE POETS,after being Piccioni,Opera Omnia,Autoscontri,Poeti Concreti.

In January they do the first photographic set with Filippo Bergonzini and the results are used for the booklet of BEGGING FOR LOVE.

They start to play live in several venues here in Bologna and at the same time they work on new songs and covers like You're so vain and Una bambolina che fa no no no.

In august 2000,put up by Lorenzo in his home in Tidari,on the mountains,they record in 5 days the new 16 songs for GROOVY.

Their live activity continues and a year later,in July 2001,they record at Matteo's house in Correggio the third album,which maybe will be called SUPERPOP.

In the beginning of August their first 7 inch has been produced by Misty Lane;it's called WHEN YOU WERE BY MY SIDE.
