Band History
The Mongrels started as a two piece, about 2 years ago on April 12th 2001.  The band was started from nothing is nothing and probably will never beome more than that.
Spencer had been playing snare drum for a band called "The Freaky Be Cools" upon hearing their first recording Adam approched Spencer with the idea of starting a band, he couldn't resist.  So he left the the "FBC" to work on his new project "THE MONGRELS"
Neither Adam or Spencer could play an instrument.  After 3 days the
first Mongrels show occurred.  They were self taught and in the span of 3 nights mananged to learn enough to write a song.  This song was titled "MONGRELS ANTHEM" , a terrible song really, but for it's time was a marvel of wonder and beauty.
A little bit of information you may or may not have known.
HISTORY
With the whole school humming the new hit "Mongrels Anthem" it was time for the Mongrels to go into the studio.  The Mongrels Anthem single was recorded in Liam Welwood's bassment by Chad Alsager on Chad's 4-track recorder.  It took the band around 23.6 tries to get through the song well enough to record.  This particular version is very rare and included the back up vocals sang by everyone in the room.

During this time the Maidstone High School Math Teacher Mr Bodnarek was revolutionizing the way people looked at Math classes.  While doing assignments in class he would allow music to play ifrom CD's he had made himself (This was before most Maidstone folk knew that a burner wasn't on a stove).  If a class got over an 80% average each student would choose a song to be featured on the new classroom mix.  Sure enough the Mongrels Anthem was there.
Before long the song was being played over the intercom at noon hours, in Mr Bods Math Classes and has even been heard at school dances, much to the discust of the majority of the school body.
Now back to Mr. Bodnarek, also known as DJ Bodrock.  See Mr Bodrock was a DJ turned Teacher, so you know he knew where it was at when the word "remix"  was mentioned.   At home one night DJ Bodrock Remixed two new versions of this already stale song.  The first was....well...uhhh...a little iffie.  It consisted mostly of samples from Shaggy's big hit "It wasn't me" and sounds of thunder while dubbing in "songrel, songrel, songrel".  The second however was a masterpiece of epic proportions.  DJ Bodrock speed the song up to twice it's normal speed making the song nice and quick, not the slow sketchy speed that was a token of the then new Mongrels.  Bodrock also hired Alvin and the chipmunks to sing vocals, which was a feat within it's self.  These remixes never quite gained the popularity the original did, and served more as a novelty.
With what have some refered to as "Mongrel Mania" finally  slowing to a halt.  It was time for the band to get down to biz, first Adam bought a guitar and little crappy amp.  Spencer silently kept borrowing the drum set the had borrowed for the first show.  They then set out to write new material, and play more shows.  Eventually the opportunity arose.  "ROCK OUT 2001"  a show hosted by the Maidstone United Church Youth Group.  The show included "REBOZO" a christian rock band from Lloydminster.  The other band was "The Youth Group Band" with arose out of the ashes of "The Freaky Be Cools".  The show was terrible, the accoustics were bad and our heros suked out HARD.  One member of Rebozo was quoted "You guys have it, you just might need a little more practice". The band had faced their first major defeat..they had hit rock bottom.  It was a rough time for the once popular no-talent band.  The future looked grim.
