books on lo carb diets. Lo Carb is lo carb- no secret diets.
This
is
a low to no carbohydrate diet. High protein, and, fat is no
problem at all.
The real problem is the massive amount of sugars we are putting into our bodies. We are descended from a meat eating jungle swinging lifestyle of millions of years. We lived on Meat & Vegetables - Not candy bars and BREAD. (Ouch).- No - we weren't farmers and did not farm potatoes or wheat. That came in the last 1000 years. This Agrarian lifestyle is a fairly new development in our history. Our bodies were not evolved/designed to handle "Age of the Bakery".
How this works:
When
the sugar or glucose level in the blood goes up beyond a certain level
INSULIN is released into the blood to lower that level. The
problem is that the insulin changes the glucose to--- FAT!!! This is a medical fact. Yes FAT! That is insulin's
job- to PRESERVE ENERGY by turning excess glucose to FAT to store it
away
while we hunt down the next wild animal in the jungle. Hey- it could be
days before you find another animal to eat!!!
The
problem is that your system does not know about 7-11! Your system
doesn't know you can get food 24 hr.s a day and eat all the time if you
wish. There is no longer a need to store energy! But your body does not
know that! Beyond 25 grams of carbohydrate your body starts storing as
fat the food you are eating. The funny thing is that it does not
store fat but
rather, burns it immediately as energy.
And GUESS WHAT- when insulin is released, CHOLESTEROL is increased in the blood as well. This diet will reduce your cholesterol levels to below 170 if it is higher than that.
While we are young our bodies can keep up with the sugar we throw at it and not get fat. After about 30 some people's bodies (mine!) lose their ability to metabolize correctly and process all those cookies!
This is why we have to go back to the diet we were meant to eat.
This
means
: No Sugar, No Bread, No Potatoes - no
carbohydrates! No soda or fruit juices.
You
CAN have all the fatty meats you want. Cream in your coffee -
Sweeteners
OK. Diet sodas, Salad is great with lots of dressings. Hollandaise
sauce-Yeah! Extra Mayo! Ranch dressing.
AND
EGGS AND BACON with extra Sausage! Hold the hash browns and toast.
BUT HOLD THE POTATOES
So when we stop eating sugar the body starts turning to its fat reserves to release it back into the system and burn it as energy. This is called Ketosis and you can measure your own progress on the diet using special strips from the drug store.

don't think that once you do the diet you can start eating carbs again-
you can't -- at least not as much. Eating carbs again means you

eat for the rest of your life.
