I'll bet by now you're asking yourself......"Who is this amazing, fabulous person who created this absolute monstrosity of a website?!!? I think I'm in love!!" Well my little Web-surfing pervert, it's none other than the infamous IceQueen!

I created the original #Moncton website (http://members.xoom.com/monctonpix/), and received such positive feedback from my fellow #Moncton IRC'ers that I decided it was high time that I update it to reflect the joining of many new "regulars" to the #Moncton chat channel.

My intention, when I first began to do the updates, was to simply expand upon the existing website, and add a few users. However, I found that more difficult and annoying that I anticipated it would be, so I just said "Fuck it!" (I swear a lot....you'll see that if you ever join #Moncton to chat), and I started working on an entirely new website from scratch. I've created all the graphics myself (not that they're anything special), and I've used Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 this time, which I must say, is quite fabulous.

This entire process has definitely been a learning experience for me, and the anticipation and excitement that has been expressed to me by several #Moncton members has kept me going when there were times when I was just too tired to continue doing this. I know the website doesn't look like much, but believe me people, it's taken me a long time to put it all together, in terms of content, layout, design, and format. I'm a perfectionist, so that doesn't help matters either (heh heh).

So why have I bothered wasting my time doing all this crap? For starters, I absolutely love creating webpages. If I had any coding skills at all, and could do all that fancy Java and Flash and XHTML stuff that's out there, I'd be running my own Web design business right now. Secondly, even though I hate to admit it, I love #Moncton, and a lot of the people that come with it (the regulars). I love to chat, to express my ideas, thoughts, feelings, and opinions (I can be a real blabbermouth at times), and #Moncton is a terrific forum for me to do that. Most importantly, even though a lot of people consider chatting via a computer to be "nerdy" (I know I still kind of do), it will sometimes amaze you to learn about how differently another person can think or feel about the same thing you do. It can surprise you to find out what you may have in common with another human being who's a world away, and who may be going through the same hardships of life as you are at that very moment. Hell, you may even make a new friend, and there's never anything wrong with that.

As with anything in life, #Moncton has it's good points (i.e. me!) and it's bad points (i.e. distribution of files containing viruses), but it has to be taken with a grain of salt. You have to be assured, before you join, not to take anything personally (because we can sometimes be pretty harsh to newbies), to just joke around, and to be yourself. If you keep coming back and make a positive contribution to #Moncton, we'll come around, and accept you as part of the group. You have to keep some perspective on the whole medium of communication (IRC), because it's easy for people to hide behind a computer and say whatever they'd like about you, good or bad.

Please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions about IRC in general and #Moncton. But I assure you, all in all, that there are a lot of really nice, and fairly intelligent people in #Moncton to talk to. If you're interested in expanding your horizons of thought, and meeting new people, I hope that you will join us soon, if you haven't already. The more, the merrier!

Oh, and if you actually give a shit about learning more about me, personally, visit IceQueen's Palace on the Web. It's out there, somewhere, on the World Wide Web.

I'd like to sincerely thank you for taking time out of your life to visit this website, and I hope that you've enjoyed the fruits of my labour in creating this online experience. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or would like to add your Picture and Biography to the #Moncton website, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
