| Tyrannosaurus rex may be the bestknown dinosaur. It was certainly one of the biggest meat eaters, and probably the most frightnening that has ever lived. It was up to 48 ft. (15m) Long and 20 ft. (6m) High: A man would hardly have reached its knee . Various odd theeth were found in the 19th century, but the first reasonably good skeleton was not found until 1902. This included parts of the skull and jaws and odd bones from the backbone, shoulder, hip and legs. A more complete skeleton was found in 1908, and this gave paleontologists more detailed information . Tyrannosaurus had a massive head 5 ft. (1.5m) long. The jaws were lined with large, sharp theet up to 7 in. (18cm) long.Tyrannosaurus could probably swallow humen beings whole if it was alive today . |
