In the major semi-final, Adelaide were held to a 0-0 draw at home to the minor premiers, Melbourne Victory.  United dominated the game and twice hit the woodwork, but they were unable to break the deadlock.  The second leg takes place at a sold-out Telstra Dome this Sunday.

In the minor semi-final, Sydney take a 2-1 lead to Newcastle for the second leg.  The reigning champions had the best of the first half and were two goals up at the break before an injury to Terry McFlynn allowed the Jets to up the tempo.  Milton Rodriguez' goal in the 70th minute gives Newcastle hope of turning the tie around this Friday.
