A-League Grand Final
In front of a packed house at Telstra Dome, Melbourne Victory destroyed Adelaide United 6-0 to lift the A-League title. Although United did have captain Ross Aloisi sent off, they were already 2-0 down by then, and they had no answer to Melbourne's attack. Archie Thompson scored the first five, four of which were set up by Brazilian import Fred, and deservedly won the man-of-the-match award. After Thompson was substituted in the 90th minute, his replacement, Kristian Sarkies, scored the goal of the game to seal the win. Adelaide now need to recover in time for their first Champions' League outing on the 7th of March while Ernie Merrick's boys can enjoy a good celebration at the end of a successful season!
