A-League Preliminary Final
After a tense couple of hours at Hindmarsh Stadium last Sunday, Adelaide United defeated Newcastle Jets on penalties to move into the Grand Final. After Carl Veart had put the Reds in front, the Jets hit back, and substitute Vaughan Coveny equalised with fifteen minutes to go. Newcastle dominated extra-time and should have won; however, the tie went to penalties, where United keeper Daniel Beltrame pulled off two saves to guide his team home. Adelaide now face Minor Premiers Melbourne Victory in the Grand Final this Sunday in front of a record 57,500 sell-out crowd at the Telstra Dome.
