| American Style Dancing that is more popular in the United States and used for more social danceing Smooth- Consist of open and closed figures which include the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz Rhythm- Mostly done with bent knees and include the rumba, cha cha cha, salsa, swing, samba, mambo, merengue and bolero. |

| International Style Dancing that is done across the world and usually more technical and precise. Standard- Consist of only closed (together) figures and include the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz Latin-American Mostly done with straight legs and include cha cha cha, samba, rumba, paso doble and jive. |
