| Hometown: Concord, North Carolina Genre: Solo Performer; Beach/Oldies, R&B/Motown/Funk Band Performance Band line-up includes: Xxx, Guitar/background vocals Xxx, Bass/background vocals Xxx, Keyboard/background vocals Xxx, Drums/background vocals Joni Bowman, background vocals Odell Gillion III, background vocals Bio: Born Latoya Williford in Concord, North Carolina, at the age of five Latoya begin singing in numerous choirs and groups in surrounding communities. It was while attending middle and high school when she started playing clarinet, flute, oboe, baritone, and saxophone. After attending college Latoya soon realized that she wanted to be a professional performing artist, and picked her stage name �Monaliza�. Next Monaliza would approach her sister soon to be manager who was working under ex-Motown executive Harvey Fuqua (who discovered The Spinners, Jr. Walker& The All Stars, Marvin Gaye, New Birth, and etc) at Resurging Artist Records in Concord, North Carolina, who suggested background singers Joni Bowman and Odell Gillion III as the perfect blend of vocals and a live band to complete the Monaliza package. Influences: Inspired by many artists of the past, Monaliza�s music centers around the romantic era of the 1960�s through today�s R&B combined with beach, oldies, and funk. Monaliza and her band are ready to entertain young and old crowds alike. Special Interest: Monaliza is in the process of obtaining dates to tour with Jr. Walker�s All Star Band that will be set to tour spring 2006. |
