26 at Clover Hill L 6-10 No. 9 Chiefs, who scored all their runs in the second, still led 6-5 before Clover Hill scored five in the bottom of the sixth for the upset. Cary 3 for 4, double. Josh Arnold, 1 for 2, 2 runs.

Game suspended by darkness after 8 innings. Monacan's final chance to win, in the bottom of the eighth, was thrwarted by three great Midlo plays: two diving outfield catches of well-hit balls and an out at the plate on a runner trying to score from second base. No completion date has been set.

 2 at Patrick Henry L 1-9 Chiefs held to two hits and fell to Patrick Henry's 7-run third inning.
 3 Benedictine W 8-5 at L.C. Bird Invitational. Chiefs return to winning ways with 10 hits and 8 runs. Moore shut out Benedictine until a four-run seventh, also went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Cary 2 for 4, two doubles, RBI. Jones 1 for 2, 2 RBI. Second scheduled game, against No. 1-ranked Godwin, was postponed by rain until tomorrow.

L 1-12 at L.C. Bird Invitational. Rescheduled from April 3. No. 1-ranked Godwin set down the Chiefs, breaking the game open with a 7-run third inning. Tim Rohman's home run in the bottom of the third was the Chiefs' only hit.
12 at L.C. Bird W 7-4 Chiefs pick up first district win (and even their overall record at 3-3-1) with solid pitching and timely hitting. Skyhawks had scored 17 runs against Patrick Henry earlier in the week but Moore kept them at bay, giving up just two hits and two earned runs over 6-1/3 innings. Down 3-2, Monacan scored three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth for the win. Cook came on in the seventh for save. Rohman, Myers and Jor. Arnold highlighted Monacan's eight-hit attack. Rohman and Myers hit solo home runs. Arnold drove in four big runs with a two-run triple and two-run double.
17 HUGEUNOT W 12-2 Easy win against winless Falcons. Jor. Arnold and Hughes combine on five-inning four-hitter. Chiefs rack up 14 hits in four innings. Rohman, 2 for 2, HR, 4 runs. Bareford 2 for 2, run, RBI.
19 at James River L 4-5 Chiefs lead 3-0 after 3 but lose to five runs in the Rapids final three at-bats. Rohmann, 2 for 4. Terrier 2 for 3.
22 COLONIAL HEIGHTS L 7-11 Chiefs fall to a 6-run fourth inning in non-district game, preceding big district matchups against Manchester and Clover Hill. Terrier 2-for-4, RBI.

W 5-4 Chiefs topple area's No. 9 team by scoring 2 in the second and 3 in the third and taking a 5-4 lead after three full. Pitching shuts down both teams afterward. Moore complete game 7-hitter for Monacan. Jor. Arnold 2-for-4, 2 runs. Terrier 2-for-3, double, run 3 RBIs.

Chiefs knock off the Dominion District's top team with Anderson's 8th inning RBI to score Womack. Jor. Arnold and Moore (coming on in seventh inning) combine for a six-hit shutout in dropping No. 8-ranked Clover Hill to 6-1 (9-4 overall). Second straight win for Monacan (4-2-1, 6-5-1) against a Top 10 team. Rohman 3-for3. Womack 1-for-2, double.

Chiefs took 1-0 lead in the top of the first; Trojans came back to go up 2-1 in the bottom. Chiefs scored again in the third, but pitching and defense kept both teams at bay after that. Midlo finally scored in the bottom of the eighth, pinning the loss on Moore, who pitched a complete-game 7-hitter. Cary 2-for-4, RBI. Anderson 2-for-3, RBI.
 8 L.C. BIRD L 0-4 Chiefs fall to 4-4-1 in district with loss. Monacan trailed only 1-0 until Bird scored two in the sixth inning. Chiefs manage just three hits.
10 at Huguenot W 12-1 Arnold and Cedemo combine on 3-hitter against winless Falcons. Dodd 2-for-3, 2RBI, double, run. Hughes 2-for-2, 2 runs, RBI.
14 at Varina W 10-6 Chiefs break open a 3-3 tie by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and hold on for second straight win. Jor.Arnold 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBI, HR. Rohman 3-for-3, 3 runs, RBI double. Game postponed from May 13.
15 JAMES RIVER W 11-5 Chiefs score in double figures for third straight game. Fifteen-hit attack led by Cary, 3-for-4, run, 3 RBI; Jor.Arnold, 2-for-4, run, 3 RBI; and Moore, 3-for-3, 2 runs, RBI.
17 MANCHESTER L 3-6 Chiefs enter the 7th (final inning) ahead 3-1 but give up five runs in regular-season finale. Jor. Arnold 2-for-4, HR. Cary 2-for-3, 2 doubles, run.

Monacan's nucleus has been together three years, and the natural progression should have the Chiefs battling near the top. Coach Bill Reeves has almost all of his starters back, led by pitchers Alan Moore (5-3, 2.36 ERA, 76 strikeouts) and Bobby Cook (2-3, 2.88). OF Jordan Arnold (13 RBI), OF Todd Johnson (14), 2B Randy Jones (10), SS Tim Rohman, 3B Andrew Anderson and DH Thomas Cary all return.

21 at Meadowbrook CANCELED wet fields
25 at Thomas Dale W 8-1 Codemo pitches 5 shutout innings in season opener. Chiefs score 3 runs in each of first two innings.
26 CLOVER HILL W 5-4 Chiefs improve to 2-0 with exciting come-from-behind victory over Coach Bradford's alma mater. Five-run fifth inning, capped by Patterson's triple to left center, proved the deciding factor. Chiefs gave up four run in the top of the first but settled down to play excellent defense, backing up a strong pitching performance from Duty, who went the distance. Linville turned in several key defensive plays. Next for the Chiefs is arch-rival Midlothian on Thursday.
28 at Midlothian L 1-5 Chiefs (2-1) lost first game at hands of the Trojans. For Monacan, Chris Duty had two hits, Keaton Hoyle made a spectacular run-saving catch in centerfield, and Sean Mitchell threw four good innings. Chiefs return to action following spring break.
April
 9 at Douglas Freeman W 1-0 Chiefs improve to 3-1 with exciting 1-0 victory at Freeman. Chris Duty goes the distance for the win. Cory Minor and Rusty Linville combine for two double plays, and Chase Bryan adds a third on a line drive catch and throw to first base.
10 at George Wythe W 15-0 Monacan improves to 4-1 with five-inning shutout. Chris Codemo gets win with great relief from Martin Lawrence, who pitched two shutout innings, striking out the side in the third. Sean Mitchell came on in the fifth to close the game. Matt Patterson has driven in 5 runs in the past two games, including the winner Tuesday against Freeman. John Mark Baker went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's. Next up is an important home district game Friday against Bird.
12 L.C. BIRD L 4-5 Chiefs lose a tough one for only their second loss.
17 at J.R. Tucker W 10-3 Evan Stehle has a big day behind the plate and at the plate, going 2 for 3, as Chiefs improve to 5-2. Duty gets the win, going four strong innings with relief from Codemo, Lawrence, and Hoyle. Nathan Worcester started things off for the Chiefs with a leadoff double and scoring the first run of the game as Monacan never looked back. Next for the Chiefs is a home matchup with Dominion District rival James River on Friday.
19 JAMES RIVER W 2-1 Chiefs improve to 6-2 with an exciting victory over Dominion District rival. Sean Mitchell pitches five strong innings and Duty earns win in relief. Four outstanding defensive plays turned in by outfield. Matt Patterson makes two diving catches of line drives to save several runs. Keaton Hoyle makes a remarkable catch denying extra bases and Chase Bryan turns in a defensive gem in rightfield. Chris McReynolds scores winning run in bottom of sixth on Mitchell's sacrifice fly. (Midlo Tourney postponed until May 4th due to inclement weather.)

Chiefs win a thriller in the bottom of the eighth on Evan Stehle's solo home run. Chris Codemo pitches six strong innings, allowing three runs and picking off two base runners. Monacan had tied the game in the bottom when Codemo hit a two-out double and Gregory delivered a pinch-hit single, scoring pinch-runner Jackson. Chiefs improve to 7-2.
26 at Clover Hill W 9-1 Monacan improves to 8-2 with impressive rout over Dominion District rival. Chris Duty sparkles on the mound, going the distance for the win. Chiefs' bats come alive in the top of the first with three runs and never slow down. Patterson 3-for4, including a triple to the gap in right center. Chris McReynolds RBI-single in the first, 3 RBI's in the seventh with a bases-clearing triple down the first base line. Gregory 2-for-3. Linville 3 hits, HBP, several runs. Next up for the Chiefs is a visit Wednesday by the Trojans of Midlothian.
May
 1 MIDLOTHIAN L 1-12 Midlothian comes in swinging and routs the Chiefs in 5 innings. Monacan falls to 8-3 on the season. Next up is a Friday home date with George Wythe. The Midlothian Tournament postponed due to rain will be played this Saturday.
  3 GEORGE WYTHE W 6-0 J.V. improves to 9-3. Martin Lawrence pitches four strong innings for win. Sam Gooch does yeoman's work behind plate, catching all 7 innings and ending Wythe's only major threat by picking a runner off third base. John Mark Baker makes several plays at second, goes 1 for 3.
  4 Matoaca W 10-4 JV tournament at Midlothian.
  4 Midlothian Susp. JV tournament at Midlothian. Game suspended after 3 innings for rain, wet field. Rescheduled for next weekend.
