Senior Night! The fourth ranked Chiefs finish their reqular season with another winning performance on Senior Night. Josh Clements, Steve-O Kuzemchak and Evan Cooke (the seniors) cap-off their careers with a 3-0 victory over the Lancers. Monacan's overall record is 16-4 and district record is 14-2, Clover Hill being the only local team to blemish the Chief's record. Monacan will host the district tournament starting Oct. 30.

Finals at Monacan vs. Clover Hill. Monacan lost to Clover Hill tonight in three games. Trophies were awarded after the match with Clover Hill receiving first in the District regular season and first place in the District Tournament. The Chiefs received the trophy for District Runner-up. Monacan qualifies for the Central Region Tournament and will begin play on Monday. Three players from Monacan were named to All-District teams. Neil Raetz was recognized as libero for the All District Second Team. Tyler Schleinkofer and Michael Koebel were named to the First Team. Schleinkofer and Koebel receive All Academic honors, too.

Rescheduled from 8/31. Monacan meets their big rival - Clover Hill. Even though the Chiefs are young and inexperienced, they play hard before falling to Clover Hill 17-25, 20-25. Quite a crowd is present to cheer for the Chiefs. We will meet again later in the season for a rematch.

Monacan travels to James River for another close contest. The team seems to start slow before getting into the game and tonight is no exception as the Chiefs lose to the Rapids 12-25, 25-19, 5-15. Monacan has a lot of potential and will gel as a team as the season progresses. Michael Underwood has been out with a knee injury this week and his leadership on the court has been greatly missed.

The Chiefs lose a really close one. Playing Cosby at home, Monacan wins the first game 29-27 but, loses the next two 16-25 and 12-15. The Chiefs start out really strong and take the lead early in the first game. Cosby keeps playing better and better each game. Monacan is ahead in the third game, but the Titans win six straight points to take the game. Look for a great rematch in October.

Tiger Tournament at J.R. Tucker
Won 2, Lost 2 - 4th out of 8 teams
Monacan played Tucker at 9 a.m. and lost 20-25, 12-25. After getting off to a slow start, the Chiefs played well their second match and beat Atlee 25-21, 25-22. The Chiefs took care of Hermitage in the third round winning 25-18, 25-19. Monacan played James River in the consolation round for third and fourth places, but came up short against the Rapids losing 18-25, 22-25. Monacan, with their young team, played very well in the tournament and finished fourth overall out of the 8 team field.
Congrats to Grayson Williams who was named to the All Tournament Team.
