L 1-3		 Monacan reaches the finals of the gold division (2nd division of 4)of the Ukrop's Showcase at VCU Siegel Center before falling to Kellam. Chiefs were defending champions of the 16-team tournament, have won last year as they opened their state championship season.
Kellam was coached by Bill Reeves, Monacan's coach the past seven years (including state championship seasons in 1998 and 2002). Match was extremely close with each game being decided by the minimum two points.

(No. 5 in Region)		 W 3-1 DOMINION DISTRICT SEMIFINALS AT MONACAN. Rapidly improving Chiefs, ranked No. 10 in the Central Region and seeded No. 3 in the district, upset Midlothian, ranked No. 5 and seeded No. 2. Chiefs win 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 to advance to finals against top-seed Clover Hill. Win also secures one of the district's two spots in next week's Central Region tournament.
