Chiefs finish second -- and thus earn one of two team spots in next week's Central Region championships -- in one of the tightest tournaments in Dominion District history. All six teams finish within five strokes of one another.
Led by Chris Houck's two-over-par 74, the Chiefs actually tied L.C. Bird for second place at 311, one stroke behind Clover Hill's winning 310. But the Chiefs won on the first hole of sudden-death to earn the second qualifying spot.
Houck, Austin Gray (77), and Andrew Deitrick (79) earned All-District honors by breaking 80. Houck and Gray also were named All-Academic.

Chiefs finish third in the regionals, missing one of the two qualifying spots in the state tournament, but Andrew Dietrick qualifies individually.
Monacan had stood in second place after the first day, one stroke in front of fellow district member Clover Hill, but Cavaliers best Monacan by 11 strokes on Day 2. Deep Run and Clover Hill gain the region's two state spots.
Individually, Dietrick adds a 75 to his first-day 73 to finish in a tie for seventh place. The top six individuals not on Deep Run or Clover Hill -- Dietrick was fourth among those golfers-- will join those teams at states.
