Richmond Times-Dispatch
Aug. 28, 2008 Coach: Danny Parsons 2007:Record: 6-2 Dominion, 6-5 overall
Offense: RB J.C. Wiggins (5-9, 185, Sr.) car ried the ball 203 times last year for 799 yards. He'll do yeoman duty again this year. Mike Williams (6-0, 170, Jr.) takes on the QB duties. Franklin Boyd (5-8, 145, Sr.) and Garrett Patterson (6-0, 175, Sr.) are threats on the wing. Tilghman Goldsborough (6-0, 270, Sr.) is the lone returning starter on the line.
Defense: Patterson, a safety who has committed to Duke, headlines a strong secondary. Tevin Harden (5-11, 170, Sr., CB) has a knack for interceptions. Javon Moody (5-9, 165, Jr.) covers the other corner. Jay Rose (5-11, 160, Sr.) is the only LB and lineman with starting experience. Size is an issue with just two projected starters weighing more than 200 pounds.
Outlook:The Chiefs made a surprising run to the Division 5 playoffs last year behind a strong defense. Enough players from that team are back this year to make Monacan a challenger again. Development of the lines on each side of the ball a major factors for success.
Rayshwan Price took the opening kick off back for Monacan's only score. The Chiefs took the lead into the locker room at halftime but Godwin came back in the second half to secure the lead and win in this defensive struggle

CLOVER HILL
L 14 8
The streak of opening kick offs returned for touchdowns by the JV Chiefs continued at Clover Hill. The extra point was good and Monacan was off to a quick start, up 7-0 with only seconds off the clock. Unfortunately, Clover Hill had the same thing on their mind and took the ensuing kick off back to pull to within one point of the Chiefs. The Cavs decided to go for the 2 point conversion and punched it in to take the lead, 8-7. The remainder of the first half was a defensive struggle with neither team able to put together a scoring drive. The second half continued in much the same fashion until the Cavs were able to punch it in to the endzone taking the lead 14-8. The Chiefs were unable to counter with a score of their own and dropped a hard fought game to the Cavs.

HUGUENOT
W 21 14
Monacan scored with 8:19 left on the clock in the 1st quarter on a 25 yard pass from Dustin Woody to Brinnan Bradshaw. Steven Freeman added the extra point to put the Chiefs up 7-0. With only 15 seconds left in the half, Chief's DB, Sean Hicks, picked off the Huguenot quarterback and darted into the endzone for the Chiefs second score and propelling Monacan to a 13-0 half-time lead. The extra point from Steven Freeman was missed.
Huguenot came out of the locker room after half and took the opening kick off back 75 yards for their first score of the game. The 2 point conversion was stopped by the Monacan defense. With much of the 3rd quarter being a defensive struggle, Huguenot scored with just 18 second s left in the quarter on a 73 yard pass. The 2 point conversion was good and Huguenot took the lead, 14-13. However, in the 4th quarter the Chiefs took the ball on the second drive of the quarter and drove the ball down the field. The drive was capped off with a 1 yard run by Will Powell to put the Chiefs ahead 19-14. The two point conversion was good and Monacan upped the score to 21-14. However, Huguenot did not cave in to the Chiefs and drove the ball down to the Monacan 2 yard line with 2:13 left on the clock. The Chiefs defense dug in and forced a fumble on 3rd down which was picked up by Sean Nelson of Monacan and returned 19 yards. Dustin Woody and the offense took control and secured two first downs and were able to run the clock out to secure the win.

W 7-0
In a defensive struggle that went into overtime, the Monacan Chiefs freshman defeated the Mills Godwin Eagles 7-0. The lone score of the game came on a 1 yard touchdown run by Quarterback Trey Revan followed by an extra point conversion from kicker Mason Luck. The touchdown occurred after the Chiefs were given new life in the overtime session, aided by a personal foul penalty on the Eagles during the Chiefs 4th down field goal attempt. The defense was stellar throughout the game, twice turning back the Eagles inside the Chiefs twenty yard line while also creating 3 turnovers. Safety Hart Reiney led with 2 interceptions along with a fumble recovery by LB Eric Baboorian after a big hit by Tackle Cody Dunn.

Midlothian
W 25-0
The Freshman Chiefs improved to 3-0 with a convincing 25-0 victory over the Midlothian Trojans. The Chiefs started slow offensively leading 6-0 at the half but scored 3 more times after the break. The scoring was led by 2 touchdowns each from running backs Hart Rainey and Tre Revan. Both of Raineys TDs came on running plays while Revan scored one on a great defensive effort, knocking the ball loose from the Trojan QB and running it in from the 5 yard line. His other touchdown came on a spectacular 4th down run when his punt attempt was thwarted by the Midlo defense. Defensively for the Chiefs cornerback Nate Tansey intercepted a pass spurring another stellar effort, getting their 2nd shutout of the season.

Cosby
L 15-14
In a game marred by controversy, the Freshman Chiefs fell to 3-1 with a close loss to the Cosby Titans 15-14. With Monacan leading 14-8, Cosby was given a timeout with 16 seconds remaining in the game, allowing the Titans to run one last play which resulted in a game tying touchdown. Cosby then converted the extra point for the lead and eventually the win. On offense Tre Revan and LaFrank Boyd each scored on touchdown runs, and Mason Luck converted two extra points for the Freshman. Hart Raineys interception and a fumble recovery by Matt Tinsley led another stellar defensive effort that saw the Chiefs take a 14-0 lead into the waning minutes of the game.

JAMES RIVER
W 21 0
The Freshman Chiefs notched their 6th victory in a lopsided 21-0 win over the James River Rapids. The Chiefs, introduced by the James River PA announcer as wearing their Halloween uniforms, began the game noticeably energized. The defensive tone was set from the opening kickoff with a hard hit and fumble recovery by Eric Baboorian. The offense then took over scoring 3 times on 2 long TDs from running back Tre Revan, another scoring burst from running back Hart Rainey and three extra points from Mason Luck. A late interception by linebacker Marvin McClelland and an earlier fumble recovery by Jake Fralin helped the Freshman notch their 3rd shutout of the season.

at Midlothian
T 7- 7
The Freshman Chiefs and the Trojans of Midlothian High School fought to a 7-7 tie in a game that featured very little in the way of offensive firepower. The Chiefs coming off a stunning upset over an undefeated L.C.Bird team were nearly upset themselves in a lackluster performance on both sides of the ball. Their only score came on a touchdown run by Tre Revan, followed by an extra point from Mason Luck.
