Sept. 6, 2007 Coach: Danny Parsons 2006: 2-5, 3-7
Offense: The team lost significant skill players in RB Rodney Buise, WR Reece Gordon and QB Darien Brothers. It lost four starters from the offensive line. But according to Parsons, the return of senior LT Justin Gilbert [6-6, 275] gives the Chiefs a building block. Around him will be seniors Justin Williams, Tray Perry, Wade Grammer and Jonathan Laprew. Stepping in at running back is junior J.C. Wiggins, and speedy junior WR Garrett Patterson will look for playing time. Jordan Snyder tries to take over at quarterback.
Defense: The Chiefs are solid. Monacan returns nine and defensive end T.J. Kline, who started the first two games of 2006 before suffering a season-ending injury, is back. Linebacker Kenny Anderson led the team in tackles and will be backed up by an experienced secondary led by senior Marcus Hawkins.
Outlook: With a veteran defense, the focus has been on offense. Monacan is emphasizing patience, timing and taking care of the ball. The team drops to Division 5 this year, and with three of its losses well within reach a year ago, it hopes it can turn around those scores.
