    Preview
    Richmond Times-Dispatch
    Aug. 31, 2005

    Coach: Danny Parsons 2004: 2-5, 3-7
Offense: Scoring was a difficult task last year except for 32- and 40-point outbursts against George Wythe and James River. Putting up points will be tough again. Nine projected starters are seniors, but only RB Evan Lanier (6-0, 195), C Steve Armstrong (6-2, 265), OG Jamal Frye (6-3, 275) and OT Shane Smith (6-0, 270, Jr.) have much experience. Justin Vara (6-0, 170, Sr.) gets the nod at QB.
Defense: Even though six starters will be going two ways, the unit should be physical and aggressive and have decent speed. Frye, Steve Armstrong (6-2, 265) and Smith are the line stalwarts. Returning starter Antoine Towers (6-0, 210), William Williams, Lanier and James Liesfeld are the LBs. Justin Girt (5-11, 160) is the lone returnee in the secondary.
Prognosis: Getting out of the second division in the district will be difficult with so many new starters. The first half of the schedule could produce some tossup encounters while the players learn. The second part will be much tougher.
Predicted finish: 7th (of 8 teams).

    Notes & Achievements

    * 11/24/05: Seniors Evan Lanier, Jamal Frye, William Williams and Steve Sutton, as well as Junior Reece Gordon are named to All Dominion District second team.
