Chapter 6
Tara opened the front door and said to Lisa that she could come in. Tara took the clothes that Lisa brought and went upstairs to change. So how did it go? Lisa asked William. Not good, I dont even know why I even tried. She doesnt want me and thats all there is to it! William exclaimed. He flopped down in a chair. Dont say that William. She loves you, she wants you, she told me so a couple of weeks ago. She just doesnt want you to give up the throne because of her. Thats the biggest problem, but she also wants to have protection, security. Lisa told William. I know she does, I want that for her too, but I cant promise it. William said. All I can give her is some protection from some things and my love.
Tara came down the stairs. Just talk it through with her. Lisa whispered in his ear. She got up and went to the bathroom and Tara sat down. Where is Lisa going? Asked Tara. The bathroom. Said William. Tara, tell me why you wont talk to me? You used to tell me everything. He said to Tara. I dont want to talk about it, William. Tara said to him. Come on. Its been two years that Ive gone mad about not knowing! Just because you dont want me to love you or give up the throne we could still be friends. Tell each other everything like we used to. William said.
Tears started to run down Taras cheeks. William. She said quietly. I dont want to talk to you because if I talk to you I just want to break down and cry in your arms. Im afraid that if you continue to love me you will go through pain because I cant be with you. I can be with you, Tara. But it means that Ill have to give up the throne. Said William. Thats what I dont want you to do, you should be king, you will make a wonderful king William! Just forget about me! Tara said. She got up from the chair and ran out the door. William chased after her. He caught up to her, grabbed her by the waist and pulled her toward him. He hugged her tightly as she cried on his chest. I wont ever forget you Tara. I wont let myself forget you. Well find away around this, I promise you. William whispered.
Days after Charles went up to Taras room. Tara, can I come in? Asked Charles. Yes, you can. She replied. Charles sat on a chair while Tara sat on her bed. Ive been thinking and Ive talked to some people. I know what youve been through. Ive seen it happen to William. And Im very honored to know a wonderful girl such as yourself who cares for William enough to give up her happiness for his future. So I went and talked to my mother the Queen and the man who said that a royal couldnt marry a catholic and Ive told him the situation. He said that he had seen Williams state too and has agreed to let Royals now marry Catholics. Charles explained to Tara. Tara was so happy that she jumped up and hugged Charles. Thank-you, thank-you. Tara repeated over and over to him. Does William know about this? She asked. Yes, he knows. I made him promise to let me tell you the news. Charles said smiling.
Tara ran downstairs to find William. When she did she hugged him. I told you we would find a way. William said happily. Yeah, you did. Tara said smiling to William. William leaned down and whispered in Taras ear. So, now will you got out with me? He asked. Yes, Ill finally go out with you. Tara replied happily.
