London Plane
Plantanus X
acerifolia
The London plane is a beautiful tree.
It can grow to amazing heights and is a typical favorite in Autumn as is
rains huge golden leaves- Lots of fun for kids of all ages ;o)
Quite popular in cities as it has a high tolerance to fumes.
It's bark it, most of the year, a patch work of white, brown through to
gray.
I have not heard of work done on these trees for bonsai, but feel
confident as these trees are very strong .
A favorite of mine!

Above is the most recent picture of my
little battler. Through it all, it is still surviving. It now has some
new buds and I hope that it means that it's doing alright. I will
continue to keep you informed on my most worrying plant!

My little London plane was nearly lost
awhile ago. I had it in a bagged up pot and I think it was not getting
enough light as the leaves went red. Now, after an covering it and
placing slow release fertilizer around it, it has picked up and has
grown a lot in the last week or two. I am happy with its progress.

I have but one tiny hopeful, and the
photo below is it. The picture itself is not the best- I will improve on
it. As like most on my plants, I have transferred it to a larger pot as
I have had little luck with the small, seedling pots. I feel that maybe
there was a lack of water or maybe nutrients in trying the small
seedling pots. I can quite honestly say that I have had great luck so
far with this venture.

I recently planted a row of seed from this tree (6/7/01). Last year I
tried to use cuttings and had some early success. However, it was short
lived.
As for my seeds, they are doing well. I have now got a few small shoots.
I will keep you informed!
