| MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETING: Our Monthly Business Meeting is the heartbeat of our club. Each month, we get together with the children and do a seasonal craft, read a related story or sing songs, and celebrate the birthdays of the children born in that month. MOMS catch up on club business and discuss the activities for the month ahead. In October and December, we have special holiday-themed meetings where treats and gifts are given to all the children. | ||||||||||||||||
| BOARD MEETINGS: Board members meet monthly to discuss issues and concerns that members may have, new activity ideas, and ways to improve the club. Elections are held each June, and all members are encouraged to participate. | ||||||||||||||||
| GROUP ACTIVITIES: Our monthly calendar features several group activities each month which are open to all members. Aside from park outings, which are plentiful in the warmer months, our club also enjoys visiting the Staten Island Children's Museum, Chuck E. Cheese, the Staten Island Zoo and many other kid-friendly venues. Bumper bowling, movies and live theatre have also been popular activities. Special seasonal activities may include apple-picking, hayrides, pumpkin painting, visits from Santa, Easter egg hunts and much more. | ||||||||||||||||
| PLAYGROUPS: Each member is given the opportunity to join an age-appropriate playgroup. Playgroups meet weekly, biweekly or monthly, at the group's discretion. Most groups are comprised of 3 or 4 children in the same age range. | ||||||||||||||||
| MOMS NIGHT OUT: As much as we love our children, we all need a little "mommy time"! This event is held once a month for the enjoyment of all members. | ||||||||||||||||
| SERVICE PROJECTS: Each year, the MOMS Club conducts at least one community service project benefiting children. In 2004, we had a bake sale at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center. The proceeds were used to purchase videotapes for the Pediatric Ward of the hospital. Later that same year, Toys "R" Us sponsored a private shopping event for our club. Through donations and raffles, we raised over $700, which we donated to the Child Abuse Prevention Program. | ||||||||||||||||
