It is part of the childhood experience...some kids barely have to deal with this and some continue it for years. My personal experience has given me a girl who can't stand to be wet and has never had a real problem and a son, who at almost 9 now, continues to have a bladder control problem. His poor little bladder cannot keep up with the amount of urine his kidneys produce. As frustrating as it is for the parent, continued love and support will get them through it. Night time pull ups work great. My son likes to put his own underwear on over them, so nobody knows. And don't forget the plastic sheets for the beds...a must for keeping the mattress safe. The most important thing is NOT to punish them...they have no control while they are sleeping. Punishment will only lead to a poor self esteem and could prolong the issue! I wish you the best of luck. I know that I have had many frustrating moments of washing those sheets day after day...but I know that soon, he will be grown up wanting to move out...don't forget to enjoy them! |
