Playgroups:
meet weekly and
are formed with children close in age on days and times that suit the members.
Walking
Group: walk
with kids in strollers at a park, 3x per week in the warmer months.
Storybook
Cooks and Crafts:
moms and kids (18 months +) read a book and then do a recipe and craft related
to the story, monthly. Cost is less than $5 per child.
Cooking
Group: moms and kids who meet monthly to share food/recipe based on a theme
such as desserts, soups, pasta, breads, salads, fruit, etc. Recipes are
published in the newsletter.
Lunch
Bunch: moms and
kids meet monthly for lunch at a kid-friendly restaurant
Book Club: moms and kids meet monthly for an adult discussion and a children's read aloud. Books are selected from a variety of genres.
Helping
Hands: Members
help with babysitting, errands, meals, etc., for other members who are experiencing illness, new baby, new home, family emergency, etc.
Park
Play Days:
monthly gatherings at a local park where moms can chat and kids can play.
Community
tours: monthly
tours to the bagel shop, fire station, flower shop, dentist, etc.
Discussion Group: quarterly group that meets to discuss various topics.
HOOT (Husband Out Of Town): dinner gatherings for moms (and their children) whose husbands are out of town on business or out working late.
Art for 2 and 3: monthly group meets for painting, collages and more.
MOMS
Night Out:
monthly, have included going out to dinner, the movies, paint your own pottery,
game night, spa night, a cookie swap, and a video night.
Monthly Meetings Speakers: this year's speakers included such topics as child abuse prevention, nutrition, wills and estate planning, overscheduled children, and Red Cross infant/toddler CPR.
Monthly Meetings Socials: : this years social activities have included Father's Day Craft, Valentine's Day holiday party, Penny Social, Halloween party and summer picnic as well as various idea and discussion roundtables.
Field
Trips/Outings: this
year's outings have included apple and berry picking at a farm, park play dates,
holiday winter hayride, library story time, family day festivals, indoor
amusement centers, nature centers, family baseball game, zoo trips, parades,
visit to a pumpkin patch, Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, Chuck E. Cheese, childrens' museums, bumper bowling, IMAX theater, and nature hike.
Special
Events: End-Of-The-Year
Banquet, Bubblepalooza, Ride-on Day, New Member Brunch, New Year’s Luncheon,
Egg Hunt, Mother’s Pancake Breakfast, Pool Party, Summer Picnic, Halloween and
Valentine's Day Party
Community Service Projects: Holiday Gift Wrapping/Toy Drive for HIV affected children, Penny Social-benefit a member whose son has cancer, child abuse prevention center volunteers, Valentine’s Day and Halloween visit with seniors, JA bowlathon, Light the Night Walk, Toys/Baby Items/Food/Clothing drives for local charities.
