EASY PLAYDOUGH: 1 1/2 cup Flour, 3/4 cSalt, 3/4 c Water Mix all ingredients togther. Slowly ad more water if needed. Knead until a workable dough is formed.
FACE PAINTS: 6ts Corn Startch;divided, 3ts Water, divided; Cold Cream;divided, Food Coloring, 6 c Muffin Tin, In each cup of the muffin tin, put 1 teaspoon of cornstartch, 1/2 teaspoon each of cold cream and water. Add a different color of food coloring in each cup.
Mix well.
SOAP CRAYONS: 1 c grated Ivory Soap, 1/4 c warm water, Food Coloring, Plastic cookie cutters. Mix water,soap and food coloring together in a medium bow. Stir the crayon mixture until it begins to stiffin. Remove the mixture from the bowl and knead until it is the consistency of a very thick dough. Spoon crayon mixture into plastic cookie cutters. Place the plastic cookie cutters in the freezer for 10 minutes. Pop the crayons out of the cookie cutters and allow them to dry overnight or until hard. (You can also use a plastic ice cube tray in place of cookie cutters as a mold).
SILLY PUTTY: 2 c White All-purpose Glue, 1 c Liquid Starch Mix together well. Set on trays for play, or use waxed paper. Can be used as the commercial Silly Putty is. Store in an airtight container. Warning:Non-Edible
BUBBLE SOLUTION: 1/3 c Dish soap or baby shampoo,
1 1/4 c Water, 2 ts Sugar, Food coloring
Combine ingredients and pour into an unbreakable bottle.
To blow bubbles, experiment using plastic straws, pipe cleaners formed into loops, strawberry baskets from the grocery store, spoons with holes in them,etc.
PAPER MACHE: Dry Laundry Starch, Cold Water
Mix the starch and water in equal amounts. Stir completely. Let stand. This will thicken. Tear newspaper or tissue paper into strips. Dip these strips into mixture. Shape over a balloon or into a mask shape, figures,animals,etc.
Let dry 3 days or so, depending on thicknesss.
PUDDIN PAINT: 1 large pkg of instant vanilla pudding(3.4oz)
2 c ice-cold water, Food Coloring
Whisk water and instant pudding together in a bowl for 2 minutes. Refrigerate for 5 minutes. Divide pudding into several small bowls or muffin tins. Add 5-7 drops of food coloring to each bowl or tin and mix.
INVISIBLE INK: 2 Tbs. Pure Lemon Juice, Cotton Swab
Pour lemon juice into a small glass or plastic dish. Soak one end of the cotton swab in the lemon juice. Use the lemon juice-soaked cotton swab to write a secret message or draw a picture on a sheet of paper. When you are ready to view your secret message, have an adult hold the sheet of paper near a light bulb or over a toaster. The heat source will slowly turn the lemon juice dark brown and reveal the message.
FRUITY LIP GLOSS: 2 Tbs solid shortening, 1 Tbs fruit-flavored pwdered drink mix, 35mm plasitc film container
(unused or well washed) Mix shortening and drink mix togther in a small microwave-safe container until smooth.
Place container in the microwave on high for 30 seconds until mixture becomes a liquid. Pour the mixture into a well washed plastic film container or any other type of small airtight container. Place the Fruity Lip Gloss in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes or until firm.
