| Vincent than asked us what we both did for work? Val said she worked for Exxon/Mobil. Vincent laughed and said he had not been to an Exxon since the whole Exxon Valdez episode. He then held his hands out animating driving a car, "I would not even stop if my car was on E" | ||||||||||||||
| He then asked what I did, and I spoke to him about the Community Health Van where I work. (I kept out that I was missing my Male STD clinic day to have lunch LOL) We spoke about AIDS and how people living with AIDS today have a much better quality of life due to the new medication regimes that are out. He spoke of how so many years ago no one knew much and he remembers his first friend who had lost his battle was the gentleman who was the piano player for him on the Guiding Light music video. He also relayed the story of the man he talked about at the tea, who had went down hill so fast because of the cost of medications. We then discussed pharmaceutical companies and HMO's, and are doctors at fault?? He was curious if I felt that all this violated the Hippocratic Oath. I said I didn't think so, I feel it is much more the fault of the pharmaceutical companies and CEO's of the HMO's who make the decisions before we ever get a chance to. (I actually worked as a research assistant for pharmaceutical research, so he could have really opened up a ball of worms there) We then moved onto a lighter topic because the topic was getting a little too deep and depressing for me. I at one point did ask him if he read his fan mail. He said he definitely did. He gets a bag about once a month, looks through it real quick, sets aside about 1/3 and makes notes on them. (then somehow the subject changed, cause I never found out if he mails anything out) What was it like working with Michael Knight? He said he actually knew MEK way back when MEK bought his house in Venice Beach CA. He talked about how he, Cady, and Michael are thoroughly enjoying their plotline right now. At least there is some challenges with the material. He said MIchael is a riot to work with, but he can get very depressed and obsessed with aging. Vincent then turns to me and does this squinty scrunched face thing imitating MEK, he had come into his dressing room to ask Vincent "LOOK AT THIS, LOOK AT THIS, Do you have these eye pockets" NOW envision Vincent and MEK squinting up close at a mirror. ROFLMAO He said MEK totally obsesses about his hair, and his wife Catherine Hickland thinks he "needs to see a doctor about it" LOL I said I have heard that MEK reads the internet alot and there are some not so nice things out there, so the internet is probably not a nice or great place for someone who is insecure to go. I personally LOVE MEK's hair whether it is poofy or grey!! It is his heart that shows through that really matters when you meet him. Vincent then said how the internet can get really nasty, case in point the girl who played Kit Fisher. Also the original Raquel, who was clueless that her job was in jeopardy. He thought that James Kiberd was somebody that was wasted when his plotline got boring. He asked us what we thought of the new Jake. I remembered him from the Y&R, and he said Avalon had too. He didn't mind the Erica storyline, but it was just too boring and needed some conflict. He had loved the build up to the basement scenes, and he explained to me that unless I saw the build up of D&E, he understood how you could possibly not root for them. He thought that the producers want to mature Erica and let her develop without a man. He was shocked that he was sitting there with an old time watcher - Val since 1973, and Me, a fan of a whole 8 months. (I did NOT tell him that the reason I started watching was after meeting him at the Baltimore event) He did say he has contract outs, but he could be denied at the discretion of the producers. He has been enjoying working non stop with the Libidizone/Yacht scenes. He did ask us what we thought of L-Zone. I talked about how I actually liked it and enjoyed the whole yacht thing. YES I know it is farfetched, but I watch it for entertainment value. I don't analyze every single thing said, I watch to be entertained and that is it. He spoke of the scenes where David was "under the influence" and was acting like a crazed adolescent, and how he could not make Dixie understand that he thought they were star crossed lovers. Val asked how Vincent came to audition for AMC. He never really auditioned, he had been in town for Aria's baptism and AMC found out he was there. They had an informal meeting with Francesca James & Judy Blye Wilson, and 2 days later he got a call offering him the role, which had already been written. I think that was about the core of our AMC discussions I think I must have joked with him about remembering names, because I remember his saying something about having a 'visual' memory' He also did talk about working on their home, he and Avalon had painted Aria's room. He does do alot of things, but leaves other things for the professionals. I think he mentioned he was going to Home Depot that afternoon? Val asked him about not putting up any Christmas decorations this year so he doesn't fall off the roof. He said he had really thought he was going to be seriously injured, but had just cracked a rib last winter. He never went for his Physical Therapy like he was supposed to. He spoke of the winery tour he had done which is featured on the VI VIewer. This was featured in one of the wine country magazines as well as Soap Opera Update He was excited because it had worked out so well that they want him to do another tour in the South beach area in the Spring. They actually had to reconstruct their website because they got so many hits. |
