FOVI Tea Page 2

Elise and I saw the musical "Contact" which was out of this world.  It was the Tony award winning Musical for the year, as well as for 2 of it's stars, Boyd Gaines and Karen Ziemba.  Now at first I was a little surprised when it began, because it was all instrumental, no singing or talking, which really made the actors need to convey their thoughts and feelings with face and dance.  The first scene had an actress "swinging" with her husband and man servant.  Let's just say the man servant made her VERY happy. (on the swing no less)  But the thing that overwhelmed me was how much the actress looked like Cady McClain.  She was a dead ringer,  I could not resist telling Elise in the middle of the "movement".

The second scene was entitled "Did You Move?"  about a woman who dreams of dancing while in a Queens restaurant with her mafioso husband guarding her.  Karen Ziemba was just spectacular.  Made me want to make my daughter dance.

The third scene was "Contact"  with Boyd Gaines and Deborah Yates (the girl in the yellow dress)  This was my favorite scene about this man who is at the top of his game professionally, but at the bottom of his life, as he dreams of his swing dancing girl in a yellow dress.  Songs included "Simply IRIZZIstable" and "Runaround Sue."   But the guy who stole the show was Jason Antoon.  I so hope to be seeing more of him because he was just comical as the bartender (and the husband in act2)

We left the theatre in awe, and tried to catch a cab.....

Catching a cab for the 20 blocks home seemed impossible when there were about 3 theatres that were letting out at the same time.  We decided to start walking down Broadway, in hopes of getting a cab a little later,  but that never happened.  We walked back the WHOLE way with a stop along the way.  It was certainly a gorgeous nite out for a walk, and as we got closer to Times Square we were amazed at the mass of people out at 11pm.  Once we got back we went up to the bar to see if anyone was hanging out.  (Not that I would have known anyone since I had never met anybody)  We sat talking to Janine for a little bit, but it became apparent to me that if I wanted to be "aware of my surroundings" for the tea I had better call it a nite.

Ahh, Saturday,  The day we were all waiting for

Saturday was finally here.  We were going to get to see his SEXcellency again.  I headed down to the room early since I had volunteered to help out.  I had volunteered since I get quite shy when I am with people I don't know, and I do better when I have a job to do.  So I was given the task of helping at registration by Colleen.  Now, for those who don't know, Colleen is the person who was in charge of this wonderful day.  She should be so proud of herself for making such a great day for all of us.  KUDOS to Colleen and all of the planning committee.  We are all looking forward to next year already.  I finally got to meet the webmistress herself, Sandy Strider, who looked wonderful. I had already met Leslie, Elise, Sunny, Andrea and Cola at prior events, but it was a joy to see all these VI worshipers again.  The crowds were finally allowed in, and I was so busy at registration, I really did not get to talk to many people at this point.  I recognized some by name, others who said, "OH, you are Mommiejr" I just looked at them like I was completely stupid, with not a clue.   When Jeri (Suesee/CC) came in you could see how she gave all those bear hugs she had promised.
