We were scheduled to go to beautiful Salvador, Brazil. In Sao Paolo we had to change planes. It turned out that Fran was not allowed into Brazil without a visa; he was travelling under a US passport, I was travelling under my German passport; I did not need a visa. Nobody had pointed out to us that there might be a problem, until immigration in Sao Paolo refused to allow Fran to continue on to Salvador with me. Instead they sent him to Buenos Aires, Argentina (where a US citizen did not need a visa). There he was to get his visa and then join me after.
Well, this all happened on a Sunday, and on Monday it was a bank holiday in Argentina - no visa! Fran had to wait until Tuesday to get his visa and he did not arrive in Salvador until close to midnight.
In the meantime I was stuck in the hotel, just "me and my flute"; the weather turned nasty and I was afraid to go outside by myself. By the time Fran and I where together, almost half of our honeymoon was over. Once he arrived, however, the weather cleared up, we moved to a much nicer hotel in a much nicer area, and we had a wonderful three and a half days. And I have the pictures to prove it. Click here!
