Martha has received a left lung transplant!!  She is in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  She received the call around 6:00am on Saturday, July 10th.  She spent most of the day at the hospital getting scans, x-rays, etc.  At 7:30pm she was taken to the operating area to be prepped for surgery.  At 2:00am the next morning, the surgeon, Dr. Hattlet came into the waiting area to tell all of us that the operation was a success.  Twelve hours after the surgery, she was breathing on her own, and sitting up and talking.

Sunday, January 25th
Martha received
the call, saying lungs were available for her.  She and her husband rushed to Presby Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, followed shortly by family and Pastor Clair.  Everyone was there to support her and help her prepare for the transplant surgery.  Unfortunately, when the lungs arrived to the hospital, Martha's surgeons noticed damage to one of the lungs.  She opted to wait for a double transplant instead of a receiving a single transplant.  Now she is back on the "waiting list"..

At a monthly transplant support group meeting, Martha received good news from Lisa (her Lung Transplant Coordinator) that she is now ready for transplant.  This means Martha can now get a beeper and prepare for her transplant.
