The World of Shrimp
Illyria brushed the creatures away from her body. She hated this dimension. She thought it would be ideal for her. It was large and unencumbered by the hideous structures made by the inhabitants of other worlds. There was nothing here but glorious open land and oceans. But there were these creatures; tiny crustaceans that clung to her breasts and tried to slip inside her clothing. She pushed them away, but still they returned. She tried to converse with them, but they wanted to do was eat and sleep and touch her. And the smell was overwhelming.
She was bored. Soon she would find a new body and awaken to a different existence. The world of man sounded desirable. There she could be appreciated for more than her physical form. She would be worshiped and adored and feted as her glory demanded.
She lifted a minion from her shoulder and studied it. This one understood. It didn’t try to intrude upon her. Its gaze was reverent.
“You have been chosen to take me into the next plane. I will transform you and send you there to prepare them for my arrival. You are a shrimp, but hereafter, you will be a man. Go now, Knox, and wait for me.”
In a shimmer of refracted light, they disappeared, leaving the world of shrimp without its goddess.
