I didn't know where to find a tennis racket, so I made one. Here is what I did. I got some 12 gauge romex cable from the hardware department of a discount store. Each racket takes 17" or there abouts and I used fish line, the heavier the better for stringing it. With a small drill bit, drill holes starting about 4 1/2 inches from the end every 1/2 inch. Then bend the cable into the shape of a tennis racket. I just learned this part after the first one but thread a piece of the fish line up thought the center hole leaving a longish tail down between the handle of the tennis racket. Using colored plastic tape wrap the handle starting as close to the place where the racket shape begins to spread as possible without going over the spread at all. Wrap plastic tape color one, I used white about 1/2 down the handle. Then with a darker color, I used blue, continue wrapping to almost the end of the handle. Before doing the end do two things. First fold the fishing line up so it will be caught by the tape and then put a small piece of tape over the end of the handle covering the fishing line as it bends upward and the bottom ends of the wire. This piece should be tiny, say the size of a fingernail or so. Then wrap the trailing end of the fish line around the bottom edge of the handle making a little ridge. Now continue wrapping the handle with the tape used above going completely over the fishing line wrapped at the bottom but not going over the bottom edge. Make it as neat as possible. The handle is done. Now to do the mesh. Give youself a very generous amount of fishing line cut from the spool. I don't really know how much but 36" wouldn't be unreasonable. The line should be sticking out the top of the racket. Go to the next hole on one side or the other and thread the line through it and down to the bottom hole on that side, over to the next hole and so on. The idea is to weave the line over and under itself overlapping the use of the two lowest holes and a couple of the upper holes to go both vertically and horizonally. I had 5 lines vertically and 7 horizonally. When you are done weaving, pull them all just as tight as you can and tie them off. You can melt the knot if you are careful not to melt it completely to make it stay without tending to either come undone or slip through. I have only made one so if you use this method, let me know how it works for you and any changes you make.
