I grew up in the Itty-Bitty town of Bremen Ga. It is a friendly little town where everybody knows everybody...maybe a little too much. From my birth until age 13, I called ?Bremen home. I lived in the tidy little mint green house on Wilson Ave. Growing up, I was fortunate to live in Bremen. The kids could walk all over town, and everybody knew and watched out for you. I spent summer walking to the city pool, walking to the store for candy, and riding bikes all over town. I even walked to school with all the other kids everyday which took about 10 minutes:) Bremen is small. It is well known for the railroad tracks...tons of those, Hubbards and Sewells clothing factories, the huge gas tanks, and that's pretty much it. It has changed, they actually now have a Walmart, Subway, DG, Freds, Zaxbys, KFC, and a few others. As a child, I don't remember many restaurants...just Dairy Queen ,which is no longer there. I guess maybe that's why everyone cooked and had gardens back then. People actually grew and ate real foods:) Life was much simplier then ,than it is now. I still visit Bremen often, because I still have family there, and It always takes me back to life as a child. I enjoyed growing up there and that little town will always be dear to my heart:) |
